Richard Clark Obituary

Richard R. Clark

Wauwatosa - Richard ("Dick") R. Clark died on December 10th at the age of 78, following a brief battle with COVID-19. He was born on February 14, 1942, in Milwaukee. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Germaine (Pfister); brother, Dennis Clark (Lois); and nephew, Kevin Clark. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gaye (Fogarty); son, Ryan (Terilee); sister, Patricia Kafura; sister-in-law, Valerie Fogarty; and several nieces and nephews.

Dick spent his entire career serving people in the Milwaukee area, including as a social worker in the Milwaukee County juvenile courts and then primarily in the Milwaukee Public Schools. He ended his career delivering meals to the elderly, for Goodwill Industries.

Dick made countless friends and forged lifelong relationships through his love for the game of golf. He was a member of the Dretzka Park Mens' Club in Milwaukee County spanning six decades and, more recently, Fire Ridge Golf Club in Grafton.

If so desired, memorials can be made to First Congregational Church of Wauwatosa, Goodwill Industries, or Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee.

Cremation has taken place but, due to the current pandemic, a celebration of Dick's life will take place at a later date.

Dear Gaye, Ryan and family... Just found out about Dick's passing, today... through a church bulletin. Gaye, after moving out of Tosa to Mequon, we stopped attending church at First Congregational and started to attend services at Congregational Home with my mother. We have many wonderful memories of Dick, you and Ryan, and our hearts go out to you for your loss. Dick is one of the best and kindest men that we have ever known, and his memory will be cherished by all who knew him. Our prayers go out to you and your family for peace and many wonderful memories. God Bless. Chip, Joanne and Family

Gaye and Ryan, thank you so much for the service yesterday. We only met once 30 yrs. ago so I didn't stay for the reception. I can echo what others said about how he felt about his family from what I heard from him over 20 years of Thursday lunches. It was comforting to hear that everyone knew and will remember the same man I knew. Ryan, your dad was only 10 yrs. my senior but I could say he was my dad and big brother also. I think that is the example he was for many of us. This had to be hard so long after the event but I hope you felt the same love and comfort in the church that I did. Peace and prayers to you both and your whole family.

Gaye, I am so deeply sorry to hear about the loss of your husband. Marisa always remembered how you to talked about him to your students. What struck her, even at such a young age, was how much you loved him. He sounded like an incredible person. You have my deepest sympathy

Gaye, You probably don't remember me. Dick was the first SW I worked with in MPS. Through the years we had many friends in common and would see each other weekly at our Thursday lunch meeting. I hadn't seen him much since his and my retirement but we were pleasantly reacquainted at the Tosa WAC on Friday mornings a couple years ago. I've always known him to be a kind and gentle man. When work got stressful, Dick had a way of reframing things to make it less so. I was just made aware of his passing and am very saddened by it. You and Ryan will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Gaye, so sad to learn of the passing of your beloved husband... It has been a 'long' time since Humboldt Park Grade School's 'fifth grade,' but I have always kept you on the 'backroads' of my mind as I have with the many friends we knew together. My prayers go out to you and to all of 'yours.'
May the God of all comfort be with you now and forever.
