Richard Stanley Obituary

Stanley, Richard Walton "Dick", age 83, passed peacefully November 11, 2015. Husband for 61 years of Mary (nee Read). Father of Cliff, Claire (Kirk) VanHee, Gail (Jonathan) Lewis, and Craig (Julia). Grandad of Olivia, Nate and Georgia Stanley; Kate, Kelly and Kendall VanHee; Helen and Parker Lewis; and Nate, Mary and Eve Stanley. Born January 18, 1932 in NY, NY. Dick graduated from Dartmouth College in the NROTC program in 1953 and spent 3 years in the Navy on destroyers before earning a MBA from Cornell University in 1958. Dick spent 40 plus years in financial investments with Smith Barney, Heritage Investment Advisors and US Bank. He was well respected by his peers in his specialty, fixed income. Dick loved to send letters to this newspaper in the form of Letters to the Editor, always hitting on the topic of the day. Dick was an avid skier, tennis player and fisherman. He was a loving husband, father and grandad and enjoyed spending time with his family in northern WI and traveling to far away places with Mary. After retirement, Dick volunteered his time and energy at the Uof MN's Raptor Center. A memorial service for the family will be held at a later date. Memorials to The Raptor Center, U of MN College of Veterinary Medicine, 1920 Fitch Ave, St Paul, MN 55108, or a charity of your choice.
