Robert Brumder Obituary

Brumder, Robert C. Robert Charles Brumder age 96.5 was born during a blizzard at his family home in Milwaukee on March 9, 1918. He went to his happy hunting ground during a rainstorm at his family home on North Lake on October 3, 2014. Preceded in Death by his parents, William Charles and Thekla Uihlein Brumder; brother, Bill; sisters, Emily, Katie, Teckie; his wife and best pal for 67 years, Barbara Blakney Brumder and their beloved son Charles Pierce Brumder. Survived by daughters Thekla Brumder Sanford (Richard) and Amy Brumder Nunnally (Scott); daughter-in-law Kathryn Gardner Brumder; sons, Robert Blakney Brumder (Kathy) and David Hopkins Brumder. He was known as Opi to his grandchildren, Kayt Brumder Pereira (Jorge), Fritz Brumder (Molly), Blakeney Sanford-Williams (Bennett), Bradley Brumder Wabiszewski (Eddie), Ellery Brumder Thomas (Quentin), Thekla Brumder Ross (Dylan), Karley, Lexi and Eily Brumder, Sophie and Avery Nunnally and great grandchildren: Reina Williams, Augie, Charlotte, Molly, and Tommy Wabiszewski, Solari and Ike Brumder, Fausto Brumder Pereira and Leo Brumder Thomas. His long life included dozens of dogs that he cherished; Willie and Suzer were at his side in the end. Graduate of Middlesex School, Concord, MA and Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA, where he majored in history, a life long passion. Bob was owner and President of Waukesha Cutting Tools. He served on the boards of Joseph Schiltz Brewing Company, First Wisconsin Bank and was on the board and President of Chenequa Country Club, Village of Chenequa and University Lake School of which he was also a founder. Bobby was an avid traveler and hunted in Alaska, Canada, Africa and Arizona with his beloved wife "Blanche". He enjoyed the Arizona desert and Castle Hot Springs during his youth; returning with his family to vacation at Rancho de Los Caballeros in Wickenburg Arizona where later he and Barbara wintered at their home. Uncle Bobby's sense of humor and joie de vivre will be missed by his extended family and friends. He never lost his love for nature and the great outdoors; or designing, drawing and building chalets and shacks. The family is most grateful for the loving care "Mr. B" received these past years by a team of exceptionally caring people. They wish to thank: Bev, Kay, Trish, Lee Ann, Terri, Susan, Colleen, Judy, Jacque and Kane. The support from Aurora VNA Hospice was also greatly appreciated. A private family service and burial will take place at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, North Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to University Lake School, Stanford University, or Chenequa Foundation.
