To The Family of Robert L. Harris,
I would like to express my sincere condolences for your lost. Rev Harris was truly a man of God. I will miss him, especially all the times he made sure I worked in the church.
I can remember the time Rev Harris cornered me and said Jennifer when are you going to start working in the church? I asked Rev. Harris what he wanted me to do. As a man of God, he said it is not what I want you to do, its what God wants you to do, but I do have a project for you. I want you to read the announcements every Sunday. I should have never opened my big mouth. The first time I read the announcements I was so nervous, I read them extremely fast. Rev Harris told me I read them too fast and the next time he was going to make me read them over. I got better and better because I didn’t want to disappoint Rev Harris nor have to read them over.
Rev Harris continuously had projects for me up until I moved to Houston, TX, and then he was determined to make me work from Houston. I can never forget him!
I can remember when I was in the hospital for my lung, Rev Harris was my first visitor. I was so surprised because most ministers are too busy to visit the sick and shut in, not Rev. Harris.
We even visited when he came to Houston for the Baptist Convention. I thank God for him being in my life. Rev Harris, you have truly earned your key to heaven. Enjoy and I will see you soon!!

Eddie,
I was so sorry to hear of your loss.
We did not meet personally. I saw you at the Pastor's and wife anniversary every year. I am a member of Tabernacle and a member of Pastor's Homiletics class where I was pursuing a PHD degree. I truly LOVE Rev. Harris. He was more than just a teacher was or pastor, I adopted him as my dad, brother, and my Best friend. I could talk to him about anything. I loved his sense of humor, compassion, and sensitivity.
Eddie, I know what it feels like to loose both parents. I will continue to keep you in my prayers and my thoughts
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help at this time.

Rev.Harris you will truly be missed. As I think of your impact on my life, I can still see that infectious smile and hear that laugh that we have all come to love and look forward to hearing. Your sense of humor was unmatched. You baptized me as a child, taught me as a kid, encouraged me as a young adult and married me in a private ceremony as a man. I can't remember NOT knowing you and you will truly be missed by my wife, kids and me. Thanks you for being a part of my life.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Pastor Harris. Whenever and wherever he would see me I was addressed as his "friend". In attendance of one of Tabernacle's events I reminded Pastor Harris of something he had taught and I had learned when he was my instructor at the Milwaukee Theological Institute in 1990 and he laughed and said, "I can't believe you remember that". Many have been enriched by the wisdom and teachings of this man. My prayers are with the family for as we know it was never intended for us to get use to death however we are to prepare for it. I believe Pastor Harris was prepared and now rests as he has transitioned from labor to reward. God Bless You All.

Blessed are the Saints who die in the Lord... To Eddie and the entire Harris family; our thoughts and prayers are with you. Pastor was our teacher. He taught us many life lessons. He blessed our babies, baptized our children, married us,prayed for our sick and eulogized our loved ones.He was our leader, our father and friend. He will forever live on in our hearts and minds. His love and dedication to our church and the Youth of our church was awesome. His wisdom and sense of humor will greatly be missed. We already miss his preaching and teaching! Everytime I stood to sing he would encourage me with "sing baby".I can hear him singing "I am a living testimony and when I see Jesus,Amen". I know it is Well with his soul as he went home to be with the Lord. Our Pastor will me missed, and never forgotten!

To the Rev. Robert L. Harris Family,
On behalf of the Mt. Sinai family we extend to you our deepest sympathy. Please remember that Jesus promised never to leave us nor forsake us. He promised to give us that peace that surpasses all understanding and not leave us comfortless. Hold on to God’s unchanging hand and he will help you to stand during this sad hour. Weeping may endure for a night but Joy will come in the morning. I shall never forget Pastor Harris as my instructor at Milwaukee Theological Institute. He was instrumental in shaping and molding the minister I am today. I shall miss his words of wit and his thorough understanding of theological truth. I truly thank God for having known him.

To Eddie and family: Our prayers are truly with you. We share in your time of sorrow. Pastor was more than just a pastor to us. He was like a father and our confidant. Pastor was always there when we needed him. I can picture him now sitting in the pulpit getting happy waving his hands when the choir would sing "It is well with my soul". We all know our pastor fought a good fight and run a good race. May we all have a peace of mind knowing on May 7, 2008 God called a special, loving , caring, person to a home where there is no more pain and suffering. We will continue to prayer for you and our church family.

To the Family of Pastor Harris: Beloved Eddie, Sisters and Brothers and other relatives. It is with deep sadness that I write this message. Pastor was more than just a Pastor to me, he was my friend, my confidant and spiritual leader. I could talk to him about anything. He has helped me and my family through many crises and continued to support me with advice and prayer. I always told him that whenever he had an anniversary, so did I because I joined Tabernacle under his leadership September 1977. He often told us that he knew that we were hurting when loved ones passed away, but not to stay home -come to church because you could cry at church as well as home. I'm doing some of my crying now as I write this message as I will TRULY MISS HIM. He was an inspiration to all of us and has been our anchor for so many years. He saw a vision years ago and it is outlined in our church motto. We must now continue the growth of our church and be a comforter to each other. Love & Symphaty.

I love you and I thank God for the influence you have had on my life and my entire family.

To Eddie and the entire family of Dr. Robert L. Harris, words can not express the loss that we share with you. He was our leader, our father and the one we new that never stopped praying for us and encouraging us at our most difficult hour, inspite of the storms he was encountering, he was there for us. On many Sundays after someone had passed on, Pastor would announce that "Death angel has invaded our camp", well, he has most certainly invaded ours.
Please be encouraged, knowing that there was so many lives our Pastor touched.
May the peace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be with you through this most difficult time, we love you.
