Robert Schlaeger Obituary

Schlaeger, Robert George, Sr. "Bob" Born December 16, 1947, suffered a debilitating stroke while playing with his Welsh Springer Spaniel named Sam at a dog park in Grafton, WI. Robert later passed into the loving arms of his Lord on Sunday March 15, 2015 while surrounded by family and friends. Beloved husband for 31 years of Lynne Schlaeger. Loving father of Robert G. Schlaeger, Jr, Brittany Schlaeger, Jennifer Oberg, Amanda Wilks and Abigail Gardiner. Proud grandfather of Heath, Charlotte, Vivian, Vance, Harley and Theadora. A graduate of Shorewood High School class of 1966, Robert will be remember by family and friends for his personality's gravitational pull, sharp sense of humor, even sharper sense of dress, love of music, youthful vigor, service to country during war and dedication to God. In his free time, Robert enjoyed volunteering for his church, youth football, baseball and softball. Robert loved people and strove to learn something special about each person he met, a pursuit that made his life here on earth full. Family will greet friends on Thursday March 19 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Feerick Funeral Home in Shorewood. A Memorial Service honoring Bob's life will be held on Friday March 20, at 11:00 AM at St. Boniface Episcopal Church, 3906 West Mequon Road, Mequon. Donations made in Robert's memory can be made to the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Robert G. Schlaeger, Jr. ACORN Fund, 101 West Pleasant Street, Suite 210, Milwaukee, WI 53212. ROCK ON, DAD!

How sad to learn of your husband's death only because I was trying to reach you, Lynne! Clearly the grapevine or my attachment on it is faulty. I'm sorry to heavenly met but never known him. The obituary here was dear and he sounds like a wonderful man.

May this year bring hope and vision for your future as you move on into this new season. Hoping to connect.

Lynne,
I was terribly heartbroken to hear of Bob's recent passing. While we haven't been in touch in years, please know that I have very fond memories of Bob, you and your family. We go back a long time my old friend. My deepest symphathy to all of you.

March 22, 2015

My most heartfelt condolences to the entire Schlaeger family for your sad, and unexpected loss. I work at Homestead High School and could not believe the news of his passing. He would often stop in the attendance office to drop something off for his children. Always happy, upbeat, vibrant and enthusiastic. I would joke with him that I wish I had some of his energy...A huge loss and much too soon. May you all carry through this difficult time with your memories and support of family and friends. You are in my thoughts and prayers, Linda Winters

I worked with Robert in the mid 90's and stayed in touch over the years. He was always a positive light with a enormous sense of humor and will be missed dearly. My thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family.

Lynne and Family,

I am so very sorry to hear about Bob.
I met him when he came to our house to secure health insurance a year ago. Little did I know
that I was talking to a fellow Greyhound and soon found out that he was friends with some of my older siblings and in-laws, all from Shorewood.
What a wonderful, talented and funny man!
We spent 3 1/2 hours sharing stories and getting the insurance that fit our needs. He was very good at his job and we were grateful that he was the person that came to our aid.
Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

Muffie (Callaghan) Weise

The news of Bob's passing saddened me. I was a year younger than Bob at Shorewood HS. I looked up to him. He was a fantastic athlete, especially in track. I remember he always wore a cross with a silver necklace. God must have approved because Bob ran as if his feet feet had wings. Unlike other seniors, Bob never look down on me and he always gave me encouragement- even though I never would be in his league when it came to track. Over the years I would run into him walking down a street in Shorewood, we would always exchange salutations. I was just one of many underclassmen but he always remembered me. We would chat briefly and he always gave me a smile. It wouldn't be long before he would come up with some funny wisecrack. He was just one of those people that you wanted to hang with. Bob truly was one of the most charismatic people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. To his family please accept my sincerest condolences. Tom Brunhart

Bob will be missed - he was a terrific mentor and coach....always so positive and a motivator for the girls. One of his phrases he used as a coach to the girls softball team -I still use and remember often. "It's in the past leave it there." Bob touched so many people with his enthusiasm.

My deep sympathy to Bob's family on his passing. I'm comforted to know that he was a believer and that he now with his Lord and Savior. Bob and I were on the '66 Shorewood track team that took 2nd in State. I ran into Bob several times at the West Suburban YMCA and we were always happy to see each other.

My sympathies to all in the family, and friends.I knew Bob from working at Griggs music store where he would visit on occasion in Davenport Iowa. Bob stopped in and we became friends. He bought a few things but I remember a nice Fender reissue either jag or jazz master guitar. I was a big fan of Jon Paris and that's how conversation got started. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Bob and I grew up together in Shorewood living only a few blocks apart. Our mothers taught school for many years together at Bartlett Avenue School. He was a very nice person and last saw Bob at an all class reunion when he played with Freddy and the Blifftones. I am so sorry for your loss.

My deepest sympathies to Lynne and her family. I may have met Bob as their dog groomer but we quickly became friends. That is the type of person Bob was. Always funny, friendly and helpful. I am going to miss his great smile, laughter and wit. He would walk in the door and hang out at the shop schmoozing with all the dogs while chatting Jamie and I up.This world was lucky to have had him for the short time he was here. His bright light will be missed by everyone that had the chance to meet him. I will miss his talks, jokes, advice, stories and yes, even his breaking out in song at times. Bob, you were truly one of a kind. We will never forget you.

I met Robert around 2009 when I needed health insurance coverage. You could not ask for a better man to assist you in insurance in/outs. Robert was not about the sale. He was all about what was best for you. We talked Badgers, Packers & Brewers. He had me checking to see how Britt was doing in softball when she was at Homestead. My sympathies to the entire Schlaeger Family.

I met Robert as a business associate. He helped guide me and we became dear friends. We talked a lot about life and family. We spoke often bouncing business ideas off each other but he also helped me guide my child into music. He always took time to call just to say "hi". Robert was so proud of his children and his love for them and Lynne shined brightly. My thoughts and prayers during this sad time are with Robert's family and friends. He will be truly missed.
