Roberta C. Merlin

1938 - 2018

Merlin, Roberta C. Roberta "Bobbie" C. Merlin, age 79, of Markesan, WI, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2018, at her home. Roberta was born in Chicago, IL, on July 5, 1938, the daughter of Jesse and Josephine (Sega) Samano. After school she went on to become a CNA. In 1958 Roberta married Charles E. Merlin, and they have celebrated nearly 60 years together. She was an avid quilter, and enjoyed being a part of a large quilting group in the area. Roberta also enjoyed traveling, crafts, dogs, living on Little Green Lake, and especially her time with family and friends. Roberta is survived by her husband, Charles of Markesan, WI; four children, Ronald (Jill) Merlin of Hartford, WI, Richard (Laura) Merlin of Markesan, WI, Donna Boelens of Ripon, WI, and Raymond (Jen) Merlin of Kenosha, WI; fourteen grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Eloise (Jim) Williamson; a son-in-law, David Bugni; a brother-in-law, Dennis Sharpe; and many nieces; nephews; and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Josephine Samano; father and mother-in-law, Frank and Dorothy Merlin; a son, Roger Merlin; a daughter, Deborah Bugni; brother, Donald (Jean) Samano; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Jeane Sharpe. A Prayer Service for Roberta will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI, 54971, with Reverend Tafadzwa Kushamba officiating. A visitation will follow the service until 2:00 pm at the funeral home. A memorial is being established.
