Ronald Vachon Obituary

Vachon, Ronald "Joe" Of Norway. Age 69. Died Friday, June 1, 2007 at Dickinson Co. Memorial Hospital, Iron Mountain, MI. He was born on July 31, 1937 in Iron Mountain, MI, the son of the late Jeffery and Rhea (nee Gauthier) Vachon. Joe's family moved to Milwaukee in 1956 and he graduated from high school there. He started his working career there with the Milwaukee Road Railroad and continued with the railroad in Minnesota until his retirement from the Canadian Pacific after 42 years with the railroad. Joe is survived by his wife, Charlotte, his twin brother, Donald (Myra) Vachon of Waukesha, brother, Phillip (Barbara) Vachon of Fort Wayne, IN, sisters, Rita Frehse of Detroit and Evon (Jerry) Boehnlien of West Bend, brother-in-law, Kenneth (Darleen) Hallgren of Medford, WI, sisters-in-law, Constance Hallgren of Norway and Mary (Raymond) Larson of Sheboygan, WI. In addition, he is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and four very special "little urchins", Cole David, Christian Anton, Erica and Joey. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 7 from 9-10:30AM at the Miner-Ortman Funeral Home in Norway, MI (906)563-5700. Prayers will be held at 10:30AM at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11AM at St. Mary's Church with Fr. Mark McQuesten presiding. Interment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church Restoration Fund in Norway, MI, in Joe's name.

My sincere sympathy and deepest condolences to the family and many friends of Ron Vachon. It was my pleasure to have known and worked with Ron for twenty-five years in Milwaukee and Minneapolis. Truely one of the finest individuals I have ever known. God bless.
