Ruth Cook Obituary

Cook, Ruth Louise (Nee Tetzlaff) Ruth passed away peacefully just two days before her 98th birthday. Born January 25, 1912, in Milwaukee, to Otto and Lillian Tetzlaff. Preceded in death by her husband Kenneth A. Cook. Lovingly survived by her children Margaret (Thomas) Lange, Kenneth (Jean) Cook, Patricia (Robert) Haukohl and Carol (Dr. Mark) Goelzer. Survived by her sister Doris (James) Mohr. Devoted grandmother of Eric (Julie) Haglund, Heather (Mary Koury) Haglund, Anne (Brad) Larson, Robb (Jennifer) Haukohl, Tom (Jennifer) Haukohl, Jennifer Haukohl, Dr. Kristen (David Flowers) Goelzer, Matthew (Paula) Goelzer, Amy (Joe) Delaney and Mike Goelzer. Further survived by great-grandchildren Hannah, Mitchell, Roger, Elizabeth, RJ, Jonathan, Mark, Corah, Matigan, Jarec, Liam and Sabastian, step grandchildren Jim (Cathy) Regan, Bob (Sue) Regan, the late Sheila Coin, Matthew Lange and Elizabeth Lange, step great - grandchildren Tasso (Marnie) Coin, Regan Coin, Erin (Darrin) Kaminski, Bridget Regan, Jaime Ostrom and Erik Larson and step great - great - grandchild Maelin Coin. Also survived by beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Ruth was an accomplished classical pianist, competing with Liberace in Milwaukee in the 1930's. She participated as a member of the MacDowell & MacFadyen clubs and accompanied the Suzuki Strings players where she performed before the late President Reagan. A devoted choral member of the United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay, she also played piano in organ/piano duets as well as being a member of the bell choir. At the Whitefish Bay High School, Ruth accompanied the choir for many years. Ruth and Ken were founding members of the Milwaukee A Cappella Choristers. Ruth accompanied the group as well as singing in the choristers. She received the Founders award from the St. Andrew's Society of Milwaukee and was made a Life Member of the Society in 2008. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Highlands at Newcastle Place for their loving and dedicated care of our mother. Also, we thank Dr. Scott Jorgensen and Michelle, personal caregiver, for their personal attention and compassion for mother. Visitation will be held from 10AM to 12:00 noon on Friday, January 29, at the UNITED METHODIST CHURCH OF WHITEFISH BAY, 819 East Silver Spring Drive, Whitefish Bay, WI 53217. A service to celebrate Ruth will follow at 12:00 noon. Private burial services will be held on Saturday. A Memorial Fund has been established for the Music Ministry of the United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay to which memorials may be directed.
