What a sweet lady. She was extremely frugal with herself, but always generous with others. And she always was so appreciative of everything she had or received. Whenever you'd go out with her, she'd want to "treat" you. She was always working on a project usually working on some blanket to send to the poor/displaced in Sudan. Once, I couldn't find any large padded hangers. That Christmas, Ruth gave me 7 beautiful long wooden hangers that she had covered with yarn she had carefully crocheted. She always made you feel special and if you did any little thing for her, she was always so appreciative and would try to do something in return. She always wanted to make sure she wasn't wasting your time rambling on with idle chit-chat. She stuck to business.
Ruth was a faithful woman who loved and really trusted God. She would pray everyday. She would never forget to pray for your need or people's prayer requests and when it got difficult for her to remember, she made a list - a carefully guarded list.
She loved each one of her children (and often talked about how she so terribly missed them) and would pray for them all the time. She never, ever gave up. That's something I hope I learned from her....keep praying and never give up!
I also wanted to thank Becky and her family for taking such good care of Ruth and for taking her into your home during her final illness. You were so good to her. God bless you.
I will miss her.
