Sherwin J. "Shevie" Kader

Sherwin Kader Obituary

Kader, Sherwin J. "Shevie" August 27, 2007, age 72 years, of Shorewood. Beloved husband of Priscilla "Pete" Kucik. Dear father of Dana (Alan) Robb, Rona (Gary) Wolfe, Judy (Bruce) Brenner, and Jacob (Sarah) Kader. Further survived by numerous adorable grandchildren: Jeffrey Burke; Anna Rose, David, Noah and Sadie Wolfe; Chaya and Zahara Brenner; Sruly, Leah, Adina and Priva Kader; other relatives and friends. Shevie was probably one of the world's longest living heart transplant recipients. Growing up on Milwaukee's west side, he attended Washington High School. In addition to being an outspoken advocate for the State of Israel, Shevie served in the Israeli Border Guard. Around the same time, he worked at several kibbutzim. In Milwaukee, Shevie worked at A.O. Smith for nearly 20 years. In the 1970's he was a founding member of Concerned Jewish Citizens in Milwaukee. Other affiliations included Clan MacLeod, founding member of the Robert Burns Club, 32nd Degree Mason, and Society for Creative Anachronism, a medieval recreation group. Some of his hobbies included teaching fencing, winemaking, and building model ships. He loved to tell a good story with a moral and knew thousands of jokes. Graveside services 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at Mound Zion Cemetery, 14510 W. North Ave. Memorial contributions to Adina Kader Scholarship Fund at Wisconsin Institute for Torah Study or American Friends of Magen David Adom-ARMDI, 888 Seventh Avenue, Suite 403, New York, NY 10106 would be appreciated. Dear "Pete:"
You, Audrey and I and Clan MacLeod have suffered a great loss. Shevie's model of the "Cuddy Sark" will always have a place of honor on our grand piano. We will miss his great humor and stories.

"Solly", as he was known in the Society for Creative Anachronism, was a dear old friend who I had known for many long years (I can't even remember when and where we met, but I know it's been several decades now). I always enjoyed his company and that of his lady Wife Priscilla, and I know that there are many among us who will feel his loss most sorely and will miss him a great deal, but we know that he's probably up there now telling great stories and jokes and keeping the heavens laughing.

Rest well, Solly. Your memory lives on in all those you counted as friend, and doubtless there are far more than you could ever have known who had the privilege to know you, even if only briefly.

Shevie will be missed. I remember him from when I was a member of bbg and his very advocacy of Israel

We were so sorry to hear of your loss. Our thoughts are with you at this time of sorrow. We are friends of Alice Vickers, Newcastle, WY. She is a gradeschool classmate. She stayed with us while attending her 50th high school reunion from Washington High School.
