Shiela Roufus Obituary

Roufus, Shiela A. (Nee Kirkland) Touching Final Words of Gutsy Cancer Fighter Shiela A. Roufus: "God had the final say. I would not run away from my cancer death sentence. Nor would I hide. For when in cancer hell, girl, what is a woman, what have I got, if not the guts to exhaust the limits of cancer's heartbreak, shattering losses, regrets, disappointments, failures, to smile and make my life worthwhile anyway. I am duly thankful to a merciful Almighty God, who guided me through cancer hell, who nerved me in my hours of deadly decision, to whom I now bow my head in thankful prayer, Our Father Who Art in Heaven." "With a sense of deep humility and heartfelt gratitude: I wish to thank each and every prayer warrior, giving angel, caregiver, friend, thoughtful person, and the Roufus and Kirkland Nations for your attention, encouragement, inspiration, kindness, generosity, love, and smiles. How lucky I was to have you." "To my loving husband of 52 years, Patrick J. Roufus, to our loving children, Rick, Tom, Duke, Kelly, Kasey(in heaven), Michal, Brien, Carson, to their spouses, to our grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to each and every precious member of the Roufus and Kirkland Nations, to my dear friends: Thank you for helping me appreciate my life to the fullest. I hope life treats you kind. I wish you joy and happiness and above all, I wish you love." Remembering happy times and sunny days, Shiela A. Roufus (July 25, 1946-June 1, 2017) Visitation will be held Saturday at Holy Cross Church (5424 W. Bluemound Rd. Milwaukee) 9:30 AM until time of Mass 11:00 AM.

Dear Patrick and Family,

Words cannot express the sadness I hold for you with the passing of Shiela, your devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. We can learn from Shiela the tremendous love she shared not only with you, but so many who were touched by her love. We also can learn the deep faith that Shiela carried throughout her life, and even more so during her battle with cancer. It is the Easter season that we are reminded that Shiela's "life simply changed not ended." May that aspect of her faith and ours, give you the strength the days ahead. I hold you in prayer.

In the Risen Christ,
Fr. Marv Knighton

We're so sorry. We know those words are inadequate, but we are truly sorry for Sheila's passing. Praying that you'll find comfort in your memories of her. Sheila was a lovely person and what is lovely never dies, but passes into other loveliness.

I only had the honor to meet Sheila once. I will always remember celebrating her 70th birthday.
It was a very wonderful meeting of two Mothers , who children are connected.
My arms are around the whole Roufus Nation,.

My deepest sympathy to you all.
