Steven Marquardt Obituary

Marquardt, Steven H. Age 61. Entered into eternal life on January 4, 2016, after a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer. Beloved son of Patricia and the late Glen Marquardt. Steve will be dearly missed by brothers David (Mary); Ken (Kris) and Glen (Cheryl) and sisters Judy (Frank); Lynn and Patsy (Vince). Also survived by nieces, nephews and many very good friends. Steve enjoyed traveling, driving in his Miata with the top down, spending time with family and friends, and living each moment to the fullest, which he did ever so gracefully until the very end. We will miss his laughter, conversation and sharing in life experiences. Special thank you to Madaline for the kindness and care she shared with Steve. Visitation will occur on Saturday, January 16th from 10-11AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM at St Charles Catholic Church, 313 Circle Dr., Hartland. Memorials to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission or charity of your choice will be appreciated.

Esteban:

it was a great run, the time I got to share with you, Seeing you almost daily at the Club House, I always wondered where the conversation would go; relationships, sports, work, travel, investments. You always treasured your independence & flexibility and you made the most of it. For the longest time you kept working on trying to be a snow bird and in the end, you finally got to live it.

I remember J-Mac (Jim) telling me the story of he going out to sail only to see you on an in-coming boat. Turns out you did a walk-onto a strangers boat.

Our battles playing T-Ball, your speed always kept you in the game. Shots that were a put-away for me against others, only resulted in my eating fuzz. You showing up for the Tuesday night league, post game festivities & tipping a few with the team. Back then, we would walk over to Rainbow Summer and catch an encore evening performance.

Going to the Haggerty Museum openings, chatting up Cape Town (Anne Marie) and waiting for the Heinekens to pop.

Stepping out for wings & Millers for Monday Night Football with Guido (Bob), Starman (Mike) and the occasional guest always made for an interesting time.

Playing an infrequent round of G-Ball and once or twice with The Lid (Lisa) or Ms Reno (Amelia) ......Your Medicus Club was always the answer to any swing problems.

Catching the Rep, In Tandem, Next Act on preview nights right out of the club house,

Your talk of wanting to be a part-time flight attendant on the weekends for the benefits only spoke to your un-quenching desire for travel.

Driving up to Road America or a Cubbies game,

With you around, it was never a dull moment.....I miss you my friend,

Ernesto

Steve had a very adventurous spirit and a generous heart. The last time I saw Steve, he was on his motorcycle and it was a beautiful mid-September afternoon. He had been downtown for the Doors Open Milwaukee event and I believe he was leaving the next day or so back to California. He and I had been friends for many years and often saw each other at the MU gym or one of many summer festivals. He always brought a smile to my face and I'll miss his great sense of humor.

Steve will be missed by all who knew him and I know I'm a better person for having known him.

I'm going to miss you so much, my dear friend.

Steve, I will miss you in many ways. I will of course always remember the thousands of miles we ran together with Steve grabow. The races that we did, hiking mount Charlestown in Nevada, running in Death Valley, scuba diving in Cozumel. But it will be the long talks about everything under the sun that will stick with me. I will always consider you a true friend in every sense of the word, Cheryll and I will always keep you in our thoughts. God bless you and your family, Dave

From one of your running buddies in the Milwaukee Mafia, Steve, I will miss racing and working road races with you in Wisconsin. I will never forgot how you trained with us at Lapham Peak Park and always waited for me half way up those hills just to show me that I could sort of keep up with you.

I appreciate all of your advice concerning my running and always will remember your humor concerning endurance athletics. I will never forget your racing and working the Lake Geneva, WI Marathon and Triathlon

You always lived life to its fullest and would never let race performances get you down. You always said there will always be another day or another race to perform better at.

Keep running on the other side Steve.

God Bless You.

Steve, Max and I will miss your impromptu visits to the house, leaving fortune cookies between my doors, memories of grifting into concerts, sporting events and festivals w/o tickets, later chuckling about our dare. But most of all, losing one of my closest and dearest confidants. Our visits left us feeling there is so much say with so little time. Sadly, now that's true. I will miss you. Tina

Buddy,
I am at a loss for words, which you would find amusing. Thankful for our years of friendship and memories made. I will miss your smile, sound advice and expertise along with your compassion and sense of adventure. Now it is my turn to use your line to me when on to a new experience "I shall be expecting a full report." Look forward to your findings about heaven and our reunion. Love you and will miss you until we meet again. Sunni

When we saw Steve last July in Milwaukee, he was so interested in my new travel job. He shared tips and his favorite travel apps, and told me never to check luggage. He also gave me, with incredible generosity, his travel laptop bag. Steve, I am carrying a bit of you with me every day. thank you, my friend

I think God knew he explored all he could here on Earth and it was time for him to move onto new territory. Unfortunately it is us left behind that face the rough road ahead without his charm, laughter and inspiration. May you RIP Dear Brother, you will be missed.

Love you always, Patsy.
