Steven McCann Obituary

McCann, Steven Steve was a resilient husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He entered into eternal life on the morning of February 2nd, 2016 far too early at the age of 53 after a 16-month battle with pancreatic cancer. During this 16-month battle he participated in two clinical trials to aid in the research of a cure for pancreatic cancer. Steve was a man of great integrity, kindness, strength, and courage. His unwavering and unconditional love for his family knew no bounds. Loving husband and best friend of Tracy for over thirty years, beloved father of Kellie (Raul), Ryan (Becca-fiancé), and Cassidy, grandfather of Brayton and Cassandra. Steve was the cherished son of Ron and Judy (Gasper), and lovingly survived by his sisters Margaret (Jim) Hogan, Maryellen (Wes) Durow, Maureen Weber, and Melissa Hart (Scott). Steve is also survived by adored mother-in-law Jean Kessler and father-in-law Chris (Sharon-fiancé) Runge, brother-in-laws Darryl (Cindy) Runge and Brent (Joanne) Runge, and many other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Steve was a 1981 alumnus of Pius XI High School and 2002 alumnus of Cardinal Stritch University. He was a dedicated employee of IMS Group II for 15 years up until a week before his ascension into heaven. Visitation will be held at ST. MONICA CATHOLIC CHURCH (160 E. Silver Spring Drive, Whitefish Bay, WI 53217) on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 10am - 12Noon with Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 12Noon. Private interment. As Steve had given his strength and will to change the course of pancreatic cancer research, we ask a memorial be given to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, or to further the education of his children and grandchildren, in lieu of flowers.

Just saw this sad notice today. We were going through piles of old photographs in order to weed out the keepers'. I found a nice pic of Steve and Tracy's kids sitting in our living room when they came to visit us once, when they were very young. I was intending to look up Steve after 20 years went by, and mail the pic to him.

So sorry to hear of his passing..,.

I had the pleasure of knowing, working with and learning from Steve over the years at IMS. He had such a quiet personality and yet a larger than life presence. It was a sad day when I first learned of his cancer and hoped that he would be with us longer to find the right treatment. I'm glad I got to say "Hi" one last time. Steve will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family in your time of sorrow.

This was truly shocking and sad for me to hear. I worked with Steve on and off for over 13 years until a little over a year ago. He was one of the first bosses I've ever had and was the standard by which I've measured all others. He was a good man and I will miss him. My condolences to his family for your loss. He was taken before his time.

Your Husband/Father was a man of little words. His look spoke for it's self. The first time I met Steve it was in my office and he said Hi and with his eyes. Most people saw my area as a production area and nothing else (receiving). A man of few words but that's all it took, those eyes spoke for him. I wish our team could have went on to bigger things but Group II had bigger plans for Steve. I'm going to miss one of the most objective people I've every worked with.

I'm so sorry for your loss our loss.

You all have my deepest sympathy. I have had the privilege of working with Steve at IMS. He was one of the best bosses there. Even through his struggles, he was concerned for my husbands health issues and checked in with me on more than 1 occasion. I have heard many wonderful stories of you all. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
