Susan Heise Obituary

Susan Jane Heise

Cudahy - Susan Jane (nee Lambert) Heise, age 76. In the waning minutes of December 25th 2020, Sue passed away peacefully in her sleep at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Specialists were hopeful when she arrived in Massachusetts at Thanksgiving that her lung cancer might respond to treatment, but it was not to be. Born November 5th 1944 to Mildred (nee Folsted) and Raymond Lambert, who precede her in death. Survived by loving husband Denis, daughter Jennifer (Michael Burke) Heise, son James (Amy) Heise, grandson Emery Heise, brothers Robert and James Lambert, many cousins, in-laws, other relatives and friends. All are grateful she was able to spend her last month with her family, surrounded by love and care.

Susan was active in her community, using her creativity to take on the role of both Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader when the opportunity arose. She also served the congregation of the Cudahy United Methodist Church in multiple volunteer capacities over a 60 year period. A Cudahy High School (Class of 1962) and University of Wisconsin graduate, Susan was a dedicated and gifted teacher in the Cudahy public school system - - to how many who pause to READ this did "Mrs. Heise" teach that skill? After a break from teaching to raise her children, Susan eased back into the workforce as a "lunch-lady" at Cudahy's old Lincoln Grade School, then returned to her true passion, teaching 3rd grade, at General Mitchell Grade School. Susan was a civically-minded voter, an avid reader, and enjoyed the international travel opportunities afforded by her retirement. She cherished summer-time vacations spent with loved-ones at the family farm in Elcho and watching her grandson learn and grow.

Beloved wife, mom, big sister, loyal friend, tireless care giver and family anchor, the empty space left with her passing, so quickly and too soon, is unfathomable. May she rest in peace, well loved and fondly remembered.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 14th beginning at 10:30am at Pulaski Inn located at 3900 E. Pulaski Avenue, Cudahy, WI. Please RSVP to [email protected]. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Susan's memory to Project Concern, PO Box 100093 Cudahy, WI 53110. ([email protected])

I was so sad to be informed of Sue's death. We became friends as soon as we met and then stood up for their wedding. I always enjoyed the biyearly visits to Abbotsford and in the more recent years, to Rhinelander after visiting at the Elcho farm. We shared many laughs over the years. I have so enjoyed my recent calls with Jenni and hope they continue. Sending love and comfort to Denis, Jim and Jenni. Rhonda

I was saddened to learn that you and your family lost your mom. Please accept my deepest condolences. Sue and I had rooms next to each other at Gen. Mitchell, and I was also on the board with her for Interfaith. She was a great lady. I plan to be with you on August 14, so that we can all pay tribute to her. Blessings to you, Jennifer and to Jim and of course your dad. Peace. Sincerely, Virginia Grossman

I was so saddened to hear of Sue's passing. We had so much fun together in the Cudahy church when we were younger. We worked well together in the United Methodist Womens group as well as our annual Crhistmas Cookie sale. Sue will be missed by so many. She was a wonderful person who had a very jolly laugh. Rest in peace my friend. And God bless her family.

I am so saddened to hear about the passing of my dear 3rd grade teacher. Mrs. Heise was an incredible teacher who helped me find my passion in math. She also had some fun by showing us how to type her last name into a calculator. I will always cherish the memories of the genuine teacher she was. Until we meet again, rest in peace.

Project Concern

Sue will be dearly missed by all who knew her from her time with Project Concern's food pantry. When I was hired to assume the Agency Director role, the board of directors gathered to meet me and it was a bit nerve-racking at first. Then, for lunch I was seated next to Sue and she made me feel very at ease and talked with me throughout the meal. She always had a smile for me. May she rest in peace.
