Susan was such a close friend and I continue to feel her loss. There was a time when she and my dad corresponded by letter, to each other's delight. He later died the same year she did at the age of 93. That was like Susan, to welcome an authentic and fun interaction with someone at any age. Her generous spirit was a gift to all who knew her. She attended my wedding and was my maid of honor in the deep winter in D.C. on January 2, 2010. It was not easy for her to get there or to be there, but she was determined and found a way. Looking back, I can see what an act of love that was by her for me. I miss her deeply.

I only learned of Susan's passing today, and my heart is breaking. Susan's spirit of generosity, caring, and concern for others knew no bounds. She felt everything so deeply. I miss you, my friend. You will continue to be loved. My deepest condolences to family and friends.

An Irish Blessing for Susan & family
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
