My sincere sympathy to the entire Dewing family. I grew up with Mr. Dewing as my AAU swim coach. Then he was my coach all 4 years in high-school at WFB. He inspired us all to work hard especially in the summers with 3 workouts a day. He was fun too. When WFB upgraded their pool and put in underwater speakers he let us bring in music to play. His favorite album was Neil Diamond. 'Sweet Caroline '. I can hear it in my mind like yesterday. Mr. Dewing was the first to show at my mother's wake. I was a few minutes late since I had relocated to St. Louis and never really lived in Milwaukee as an adult.
He was a true class act. I learned so much from him.

I'm sorry I won't be able to attend the swimmers get together. I'm in FL now and can't fly due to an injury with my husband.

Toast one for me Terry Head! Thank you for contacting me.

Hugs to everyone

Mr. Dewing was not only my teacher but also my swim coach and boss at Town Club. I know we weren't always easy on him (mostly our swim team) but there was an understanding of when we work and when we goof around. I look back now and can see how much he cared for all his students. I will always remember him working out in the athletic directors office ALL THE TIME and teaching hundreds of little kids how to swim. Rest in Peace Mr. Dewing and thank you...

We are not sure you would remember us. We lived not too far from you on Maplecrest Lane. Our children -Jeff and Katie-took swimming lessons from Tom in your back yard. He always impressed us as a very caring classy man. He was always patient with the kids. We are very sorry for your loss.

Mr. Dewing was someone I did not get to know very well when I was attending WFB, but when working there later in life, really built strong admiration for him and greatly enjoyed getting to know him as a person. Many of my friends were positively impacted by his coaching and his mentoring. My hope is the wonderful memories of him by so many people will keep him alive long after the sadness of his passing. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Mr. Dewing was one of several swim coaches I had growing up. I only worked with him for one HS season. And yet, he, by far, had the most impact of any coach on me as a swimmer and a person. Also loved the semesters when I had him for gym. May his memory be a blessing to the whole family.

I am so sad to hear of Tom's passing and wish you peace and strength.

Tom truly left an indelible mark on me as my swim coach from 1972-1976 at WFB.

I have vivid memories of Tom showing up for our practices in his bright yellow VW bug. He used to bring Jeff along to run around the pool deck during our Saturday morning and Christmas vacation practices. Jeff never stopped exploring the bleachers, jumping on the diving boards, and playing with the kick-boards and pull-buoys. Jeff's antics were a welcome source of entertainment for all of us during those grueling workouts!

To this day, I so appreciate the life lessons and character-building experiences he engendered, and of course his friendship. These were formative and lasting gifts. His warm smile, constant encouragement and positive influence were always there as a source of inspiration. Tom pushed me well beyond what I thought I could accomplish and be as a person...every day, year after year. He had a huge impact on me.

Tom and Lynnee were also a warm and caring friends to my mother, Margaret Harrigan, at Lumen Christi Church. My mother really appreciated Tom's visits while she was at Newcastle in her final years.

Tom was an inspiration to me and for countless others. He is with the Lord, right where he should be!
