Thomas Arthur Winkel

Brookfield - Passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the age of 86. His family was by his side.

Thomas was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 9, 1934, the son of the late Willard and Phyllis (nee Muth) Winkel. He married Nancy (nee Koehler) Winkel, his high school sweetheart, after college in 1956, and together they had a daughter Susan and two sons David and Steve. Tom and Nancy were married until Nancy's death in 2014.

Thomas was a civil engineer and worked for the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation for 30 years. After graduating from UW Madison Engineering School, and serving 4 years active duty in the Navy; he continued to serve his country on Navy Reserve duty for another 26 years. Thomas also served his local community as a Brookfield Alderman for many years. Thomas was an avid golfer and fisherman. However, his greatest love was for his family, and he enjoyed an immense amount of time at the family lake home with his children and grandchildren. He will be sadly missed.

Thomas leaves cherished memories to his brother, Phillip (Judy) Winkel; three children: Susan (Ken) Okinski, David Winkel, and Steven (Jean) Winkel; his eight grandchildren: Jennifer, Jacyln, Stephanie, Katherine, Mary, Julia, Nicole and Ryan Winkel; his seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Thomas' life will be held on April 17, 2021, with visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., and service at 11:00 a.m. at First Congregational Church of Wauwatosa, 1511 Church Street, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.
