Donna Fagerstrom Obituary

Donna Fagerstrom, long-time resident of Juneau, has joined her late husband Kent in heaven.

Kent and Donna moved to Alaska in the early 1950's and raised their family in the house that Kent built on North Douglas highway.

Donna is predeceased by her husband Kent, to whom she had been married for 65 years, as well as their sons Stephen, David and Philip. She is survived by her son Stephen's son Danny Bonafilia and his wife Shanynn, with their two daughters; her late son Phillip's widow Kathy and their surviving children Angela with her husband Ken and their daughter, Torsten and his wife Lillian and their daughter, and son Billy and his wife Shale.

She is also survived by her only daughter Darla Verfurth and Darla's husband Jim, and Darla's children Brett with his wife Brooke, their four children; Darla's son Stephen Kent; son Michael and his wife Katie with their two children, and Darla's daughter Jordan.

Donna is also survived by her youngest son Mark, his wife Jennifer and their three children; Tyler and his wife Jessy and their two children; daughter Stephanie and her husband Javier; and son Nicholas.

Donna is also survived by many nephews and nieces, whom she loved dearly and the legacy of many children of Juneau whom she cared for in her babysitting years.

Donna was born in Carson, North Dakota and moved with her family to Lynnwood, Washington in her early adult years. She attended Northwest Bible College where she met Kent, a young pilot and fellow college student. Kent took Donna flying over her family's farm in Lynnwood, where he proposed to her at altitude!

Kent pursued his life-long dream of moving to Alaska by taking a carpentry job in Excursion Inlet in 1949. Donna and their first born joined Kent in Juneau in 1950. Kent and Donna were also joined by Kent's brother Ivar Fagerstrom and his wife Arleta with their children Arland, Kevin, Brent and Darin. Both families were very close and shared many of the adventures of a life well lived in Southeast Alaska.

Sincere and heartfelt condolences to Donna's family. Kent and Donna were longtime friends of my parents. Donna was THE sweetest lady I have ever known, and I know she has many extra jewels in her crown in Heaven. Big hugs to you all.

I was blessed to have known Donna. She took deep interest in my ministry. Kent always looked for me to give me a card with a blessing in it. It always touched my heart. They both are now together and rejoicing in the presence of our Lord.
