We miss both Jim (and Elsie). They were always there for folks. I remember many years ago when they pulled up in their motor home in Milton Freewater, Oregon and Jim drug out his tools and we built a wheel chair ramp for my Grandma Ruth Peer. They were an encouragement to others and stayed with what needed to be done to help others. My wife and I miss playing Pinochle with them.
On the Wednesday evening before Jim passed away, he was encouraging (lining me out) on a planter project I have going, which he had given advice about... --- as we ate strawberries and ice cream.
In many respects both Jim and Elsie set a good example for us to follow. As we are thankful to our Creator for having them in our lives for an abundance of years, may God bless our memory of them, until by God's grace we meet again!

We will miss him greatly. I have many years of wonderful times with Grandpa Jim and Grandma Elsie from Alaska to Oregon. Both were a large influence in my life as I progressed through the years.
The recollection of our past days will always keep your memories fresh in our minds of the enjoyment we had with you.

I was young and impressionable when I met Jim and his wife, Elsie; they taught me a lot about the world, and took me into their family with open arms. They became my in-laws in 1954, and the grandparents of their son and my three children in the ensuing few years. They were always caring and generous grandparents, and a good friend to me. I remained close throughout the years, and will miss them. Bless you, Jim, and may God find a cozy corner in heaven for you and Elsie. With love, your daughter-in-law, Charlotte

I will miss this man who gave me love and courage throughout my life. He taught me respect for my fellow man and gave me hope as I was growing up. I am blessed with his memories and grateful to have had him as my grandfather.
