Jim Lefebvre Obituary
Jim was one of six children who spent their childhood in Burlington, Vermont where Jim found his passion for sports, especially basketball and baseball. Jim played starting guard position for his church youth basketball team and was an all-star pitcher for his little league baseball team. Jim's family moved to Huntington Beach, California in 1969 where he graduated from Edison High School in 1973. Jim worked in the landscaping field maintaining green belts for businesses and apartment complexes until he moved to Alaska in 1997.
Jim spent his first year in Alaska working as a deckhand for his cousins in Sitka, Alaska who are commercial fishermen. After moving to Juneau, Jim worked for several employers including the AMHS and Kmart. Jim's last employer was Rainbow Foods where he worked as lead custodian for several years until he retired. Jim took a lot of pride in his work and truly enjoyed working with the folks at Rainbow Foods. Jim hobbies included playing golf, bike riding and hiking with his brother Dave, a Juneau resident.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister Stephanie Lefebvre of Westminster, California and his brother, Doug Lefebvre of El Toro, California. He is survived by his sister Michelle Bartling and brother-in-law Brian Bartling of Huntington Beach, California, brother Howard Lefebvre and sister-in-law Irene Lefebvre of Costa Mesa, California, and brother David Lefebvre and sister-in-law Nadine Lefebvre of Juneau, Alaska. He also leaves behind his many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Jim.
Jim's friends and family remember him as a fun loving individual with a truly kind soul with a big heart and smile who enjoyed helping others in need.
Jim was a proud member and volunteer for many years of Polaris House of Juneau, a clubhouse community dedicated to recovery from mental illness. The family requests that any memorial consideration be made as donations in Jim's name to Polaris Recovery at polarishouseak.org.
