MICHAEL P STRASSER

1954 - 2022

Mike passed away in Surprise, Arizona on December 26, 2022, after a lengthy illness. He was born
September 20, 1954, in Tucson, Arizona to Robert Strasser and Paula McCormick. His family moved to
Juneau in 1964.
Mike attended Juneau-Douglas High School where he graduated in 1972. He joined the wrestling team
that year and took First Place in his weight class. Mike attended the University of Arizona where he
earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He then returned to Alaska where he
worked for the State. He retired to Arizona for the weather and his love of golf.
Mike loved children, especially his nieces and nephews as well as many of his friends' kids. He was
known as "Uncle Mike" to all. Mike coached several years of little league in Juneau and Anchorage.
Mike is survived by his mother Paula McCormick, sister Debi Cole (George), brother John McCormick
(Mary Lou), sister Shelly Mabry (James) and brother Tim McCormick (Rene). His Arizona family
stepmother Kathleen Strasser, sister Linda Lindsey, sister Laura Owsley (Bill), brother Larry Stead (Amy),
brother Danny Strasser, along with numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Robert Strasser, brother Robert Strasser Jr., and stepfather
Richard McCormick.

Services for Mike will be held Saturday, June 10 th at 1:00 p.m. at Alaskan Memorial Park,
3839 Riverside Drive, Juneau, AK 99801. A celebration of life will be at the Moose Lodge following the
service.
