Ralph Kimlinger Obituary

Ralph Kimlinger loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away Thursday December 17, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.  Ralph was born in Silverton, Oregon, and raised in Mount Angel, Oregon. He was one of eleven children born to Norbert and Veronica Kimlinger. Ralph married Pinky (Rosemary) Regan Kimlinger in December 1956.  They lived in the Seattle area for a few years where Ralph worked for Boeing Aircraft Co. In January 1960, Ralph encouraged by friends in Alaska, moved to Juneau, Alaska, with Pinky  and two boys, Michael and William.

Thus started 60 years of life in the last frontier and a new state. Two more sons completed the young family when Thomas (1960) and Nicolas (1965) were born. Ralph worked for Alaska Department of Revenue in various positions from entry-level revenue agent to Deputy Commissioner until he retired in 1986. Ralph was active in his community and church and led by example, a life full of love, faith and integrity.  Ralph was an avid fisherman and hunter and spent many happy times with his family camping and enjoying nature. He loved to hike and with his family reached many of the mountain peaks surrounding Juneau and many other trails across the country, including the Chilkoot Trail - twice.  Ralph and Pinky so much enjoyed these outdoor experiences that they found and fixed up a cabin just outside Juneau in 1970 and the family has spent many weekends and vacations there. Ralph especially enjoyed this special place.

After both Ralph and Pinky retired, they travelled extensively in the "lower 48" in their small motor home.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 64 years Pinky, sons Michael (Lydia) Salem OR; William (Linda Sue) Beaverton, OR; Thomas (Anilisa) Juneau AK; and Nicholas, Willow AK.  Granddaughters Kerstin Kimlinger McAdoo, Katelyn Kimlinger and Toma Kimlinger and Great grandchildren Grace McAdoo and Hunter Kimlinger McAdoo all of Juneau, Ak. His sisters Dorothy, Dublin, Ireland;  Wilma, Silverton, OR; Mary Beth, Mount Angel OR; Kim, Snoqualmie, WA;  Irene, North Bend, WA; and Laura Jean, Salem OR;  and brothers  Raymond, Santa Maria, CA; Ernest, Woodburn, OR;  and Bernard, Molalla, OR.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents Norbert and Veronica Kimlinger and his brother, John.

Pinky and Ralph were always so kind to me by letting me stay with them when I came back to Juneau to work. Well, maybe Ralph wasn't so kind -- he played a mean game of cards! Rest in peace my friend.
