Zachary Gray Obituary

July 2, 1989 - February 5, 2015

Zachary Steven Gray, 25, passed away unexpectedly and went to be with his Heavenly Father on February 5, 2015. He was born in Sitka, Alaska on July 2, 1989 to Kimberly (Little) Rechin and Steve Gray.
Zachary lived in Sitka until February of 1994. His family then moved to Juneau where he was raised and graduated from Juneau Douglas High School in 2007. During these years he formed long lasting friendships that were very dear to him. Zach was a true friend to many.

Zachary loved the Alaskan outdoors. When he wasn't working, he could be found fishing for hours at DIPAC trying to snag the big one. He not only loved fishing, but hunting and camping were always on his mind. He was always up for a trip, and eager to catch the big king or bring home that trophy buck. Some of his favorite times were in the Southeast wilderness or on the water.
Softball was Zach's favorite summertime sport. He played first base for Willie's Marine. Zach spoke very highly of his teammates and felt they were part of his family. He absolutely loved the softball community in Juneau and Sitka.

Zachary had a heart for helping others and always ensured his friends and family received genuine help. Whether it be just hanging out with them, providing words of encouragement or making them laugh with his wacky, sarcastic sense of humor, Zachary was always there. Zach adored his girlfriend of 6 years, Darby Brown. They were very much the epitome of two young kids in love and with a bright future. Where one was, the other was not far away.

Zach is survived by his parents, Kimberly (Little) Rechin and step-father Craig Rechin , of Juneau. His father, Steve Gray, Teresa Gray (step-mother), and two half-sisters, Ann Marie and Alicia, all of Shelton, Washington. Allison (Little) Cheeseman (favorite auntie), Leroy Cheeseman and cousins: Travis Godfrey, Kimberley and Chad Cheeseman, all of Juneau. His long-time girlfriend, Darby Brown, and her parents Steve and Tia Brown all of Juneau. Randy Little, his grandpa, of Juneau and grandma, Judy Little of San Antonio, Texas. Also his great-grandmother Julia Little of San Antonio, Texas, and numerous other family members who loved him dearly.

We will all miss Zach's laugh, bright smile, mammoth but gentle soul and truly loving ways. Zach was a 6'4'' gentle giant and he will be deeply missed by all that knew him. He touched many lives during his time with all of us.

A Celebration of Zach's Life will be held March 15, 2015 at 12:00pm in the commons area
at Riverbend Elementary School. If anyone would like to send condolences they may send them
to Kimberly Rechin at P.O. Box 33411, Juneau, Alaska 99803.
