Lena Barlow Esponge

Lena Esponge, age 75, a native and resident of Houma, LA passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. A visitation will be held in her honor on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Samart Funeral Home of Houma, Bayou Blue from 3:30 pm until the Funeral Service at 5:00 pm. Burial of the urn will be at a later date. Lena was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She loved her grandchildren the most. Lena enjoyed gardening, especially the flowers. She also liked to bird watch. Lena will be missed by all who knew her. Lena is survived by her daughters: Shirley Dantin, Joanne (Wallace) Rodrigue, and Anna (Terry) Naquin ; sons: Christopher (Amy)Esponge and Al (Denise) Vinet; sisters: Susan (Shane) Chouest, Marie Barlow, and Shirley Caine; Anthony (Amy) Barlow, David (Cheryl) Barlow, Arthur Barlow, and Darrel Barlow; grandchildren: Joshua, Dustin, Brittany, Kyle, John, Jr., Kaci, Grace, Chayanne, Derek (Maddy), Cody, Darwin, Terri, Jessica, and Scott; and 16 great-grandchildren. Lena was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Donald John Esponge; daughter, Bridget Dufrene; sisters: Reda Dantin and Judy Barlow; brothers: Taylor Barlow, Charles Barlow, Able Barlow, and Melvin Barlow; grandchild, Stanley "Tad" Sanchez; and parents: Mable Theriot and Hillary Barlow.
