Mercy Higginbotham Obituary

Church Point, LA: Final Disposition will be determined by family at a later time for Mercy Dean Higginbotham, 84, the former Mercy Dean Berzas. Mrs. Higginbotham, a native of Mamou, LA and resident of Church Point, died Thursday evening, August 28 at Opelousas General Health System in Opelousas, LA. Survivors include her daughters: Debra Holden, Wendy Turner and husband Keith, Jennifer Thibodeaux and husband Chad, Rachel Clavier and husband Shane and Kris Bellard-all of Church Point-and Sonya Nugent and husband Kevin of Rayne, LA; her sons, Larry Hanna, Jr. of Dayton, TX and Robert Wayne Hanna and wife Kimberley of Deer Park, TX; twenty grandchildren, including Stacey and Danielle Blanchard of Church Point and Megan Mayer, who were raised by Mrs. Higginbotham; thirty-three great-grandchildren, including Kaylie and Jayceon, and her extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Higginbotham and her parents, Edward and Evelyn Berzas. An insurance agent for a number of years; Mrs. Higginbotham was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Truly loved, she will be missed by her extended family and all who knew her. Arrangements are being handled by Guidry Funeral Home, Inc.; 219 N. Broadway, Church Point, LA (337) 684-5488.
