Dear Jan and family, words can not begin to express the sadness and sorrow that I feel now. I feel like I have known you and your family forever. Well, which I guess it has been since 1966, I could not believe my eyes when I called up the Wichita Eagle and the first thing I saw was Bills' picture. I wanted to let you know how very much I treasure my gifts you brought back for me from your visit to Mexico. my maracas, and pinata, and hat. I have so many wonderful memories, of times our families spent together.

Jan, The years go by to quickly. I remember many joyous times with you and Bill. He always had that quiet smile and an appreciation of life. I am sorry it has been so long since we have seen each other and I want you to know you are in my prayers. May God be with you and your family during this difficult time.

Dear Jan, Almost 8 years ago this July when Emmett died, you said I was the "apple of his eye." It meant so much to hear that about my dad. Thank you. I loved Bill like my own dad--they were so much alike, how could I not? I have memories of Bill from my earliest childhood! When we lived on Faulkner, and Emmett would leave for the office, I would run along the inside of the windows in my PJ's, watching him go and say, "...there he goes down Bill Bachman Street..." Do you remember the time in the office on 13th Street when the mouse ran up Bill's pantleg??? (Or when Maxine's poodle, Garm, went to the bathroom in the middle of that same office?) Remember that cabin at the Ninnescah and the horses (Kurt, "Dolly" the Americana pony?)? Or when Kurt and his dad were "playing Bill Bachman" and Kurt told him (his dad) to "be Bill" and he (Kurt) would "be Emmett." Or, what about "Sunday morning tennis" at Columbine Park (Glen Pierce, Dick Brabham, Bill and Emmett)? See what I mean? As far back as I can remember, "Bill Bachman" and his family have been a part of my life. I know how much you all love him and will miss him. I know it might not seem like it now, but some time will go by and help you a lot. It did with our family when we lost Emmett. You "kids" just remember how much he loved you and how proud he was of each and every one of you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sure Bill and Emmett are "catching up" right now and "discussing" things, just like normal... Love, Liz Coffelt (nee Haynes)
