My family and I have had the privilege of knowing the Chandlers for over a hundred years. When my father and grandfather (Robert K and W.M.G Howse) served on the Board of Directors of the First National Bank they had only the highest of praise for his father and then Chuck. He was a model of what responsive, responsible banking should be. His many kindnesses to me as well as my family during our difficult moments cannot be forgotten nor should they be. I am personally saddened at his death and feel unprotected now that this good man is no longer in the corner office to protect the interests of his clients as well as his city.

The John & Jinny Garvey family have fondest memories and great gratitude for Chuck's many contributions to our community and economy.
As we all well know and admire, he and his son, Charlie, greatly expanded what is now Intrust
Bank, and contributed signifcantly to our community and economy.
Certainly Chuck's life was one which was both exemplary and fully lived.
At the same time we are grateful for his full, successful and generous life, we must share our deepest personal condolences with Mrs. Chandler, Charlie and Marla, the grandchildren, to and the entire Chandler Family and all our mutual friends who will miss him, but in whose memories he still lives.

Mr. "Chuck" Chandlier presided over my formal initiation at Ks. Beta of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, I remembered thinking that he must be a special person to take time out of his busy schedule to officiate the ceremony. When I think of the "True Gentleman" I think of Mr. Chandler.

When my mother calls first thing in the morning, I usually know it's something important. What I didn't expect was the news that I received. I met Mr. Chandler recently in his office, where he shared stories of his family, his business and his personal interests. I feel so fortunate to have met him and only regret that it was a one-time opportunity. You could literally see his passion for life in the sparkle in his eye. From the first time I met him as a high school classmate of Jan's some 40 years ago, he always impressed me as a true gentleman, family man and pillar of the community. Whenever I hear the phrase "pillar of the community," I always think of Chuck Chandler. He spoke quietly but when he spoke people listened because he was a gentleman of great integrity, intelligence and insight who loved his community dearly and shared with it greatly.

Although we shared the same last name, high school and occupations, Chuck and I were seldom able to talk much. So many people thought we were relatives,and my answer was always, "We aren't related, but Chuck is a true gentelman, and that is the highest compliment I can pay any man."
