Garden Plain, Kansas - Darlene M. "Friess" Haukap, 82, passed away peacefully at her home on November 8, 2021. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at the Wulf-Ast Mortuary Chapel in Garden Plain, KS. Rosary will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 7:00 PM and Funeral Mass on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 10:30 AM, both at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Garden Plain, KS, with Father Borkenhagen officiating; interment in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Darlene was born on August 15, 1939 in Clearwater, KS to the late Joe and Martha Friess. On May 28, 1960 she married the late Ferdinand Haukap in Conway Springs. She was a member of the St. Elizabeth Altar Society. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Leroy and Paul Friess, and sisters Betty Rausch, Jeanette Hilger, and Mary Metzen. Survivors include sons Dan and Peggy of Wichita, Dale and Ellen, Dwayne and Becky, Darren, Dwight and Rachelle, all of Garden Plain; sister Doris Friess of Hutchinson; brother Ron and Kim Friess of Conway Springs; and 11 grandchildren. Memorials to St. Anthony Pro Life Outreach, The Lords Diner, or the Garden Plain Senior Center.
