David, It is so sad to hear of your parting. I will always remember high school, you walking down the hall in your overalls.the big smile plastered on your face. The chanting we all did as you walked down the halls. "curless! curless!" you were a great and loving guy. you will be missed.

We just found out today about Dave, our thoughts & prayers are with Dave & also his family. He was a neat guy, when we worked at the office on Washington St., you could tell what type of a day it was going to be, as you walked by Dave's office, either a good day or a grumpy day. He always ended up having a smile on his face, even on his grumpy days. He's just one of those guys, that you'll never forget. God Bless Dave--KRIS CALVERT

Big Curl. God Bless you. I hadn't spoken to you for over 20 years until last year and we started right where we left off. We had so many good, crazy times in our younger days, but what resonates in my mind is your laugh. Your good nature lifted spirits. We will miss you and know you are at peace.

What a shock and loss. David and I had some great times together growing up in College Hill. He was a unique individual and could sure liven up a party. Some of my memories include playing basketball in our back yards, preparing for football games in his basement and going to high school activities together. I haven't seen David much since high school but life in this world won't be the same without him. He won't be forgotten.

Dave I will always remember the good times we had. The 1st time we went skiing to Vail. Everyone took off and left us at Midvail and we learned how to ski on the way down. You put the skis on your back and slide down all the way down the mountain on your stomach. All I saw from up on top was a big cloud of snow as you sled down. After the snow cleared, your beard was covered in snow and made you look like an old man. From this radical stunt you suffered a bone bruise and while recovering in the lodge you ate all of my food. It was a memorable moment with you Dave.

-I am sorry to hear about his passing and will keep his family in my thoughts. Rest in Peace David.

The last time I saw and spoke to David he gave me and my mother great pleasure of sitting by us in church. His beautiful smile lit up the church. He was doing so well. Mom and I was so proud of him and he was proud of himself of his accomplishments. He had many strengths and was using them. What a beautiful man David was. Mom and I both was just asking each other about David the other day and was totally shocked to hear the news about him. He is home now and will be well taken care of. God and Jesus are holding his hands and David is at peace. I will miss you David.

Your Friend,

My beloved son will sorely be missed. He will always be in my heart--I loved him dearly. I know he is in a better place and his misery is over. For this I am grateful, but, oh, how I will miss his sense of humor and all the good and great things about him. He was a special son. He never ended a conversation with me without saying "I love you, Mom". These 3 things: faith, hop and love and the greatest of these is LOVE. Romans 8:1 Chris Schupmann

Dearest David,

What Wonderful Memories!! I got a phone call the other night from Christina Weathersby(Schmidt)to tell me the sad news. We talked about all of the fond memories of you. When I look back at my H.S. memories you are in almost every one of them.

You made me laugh when I didn't feel in the best of spirits. You'd bring strangers to my parties and of course they would always cause some kind of a problem. You were a NUT! I will never forget you. In fact, after I got off the phone with Christina I immediately went to my H.S. yearbook and the FIRST page I turned to was the old autograph section and low and behold there was yours.

My only regret of the memories with you is that I haven't seen you since 1981. I wish I could of seen you one last time. You'll now be hanging out with a good old friend again. . . David Slade. Lots of LOVE to you both!

Donna Krehbiel Montgomery.

P.S. Keep everyone laughing up there like you did with everyone down here.

I take "Big Curl" with me in my heart everywhere I go. He touched my soul, and I am forever a better man. Life is precious, and way too short; Love Ya, and I will see you soon Big Guy...!!!

I believe when one truly loves another, they will always love them. And this case is no exception. When I think of David, I choose to remember the laughter and how fondly he talked of his life-long friends and the numerous stories he shared with me about them. I will also remember how fondly he talked about his siblings, how his big brother was always there to protect him when he was young, how talented his younger brother was with musical instruments, and how his beloved sister could always make him laugh. My sincere thoughts and prayers go out to David's family and friends. May God bless you and keep you and give you peace. Sincerely, Marian Curless

I don't know your family ,however my heart goes out to them as a mother, daughter, and sister I know how it hurts to have someone leave us when we are not ready, we can find ourselves angry, sad, confused all at the same time...it won't ever be easy, still you find you have to get up daily and love your family, and I hope you know you are my family. My heart will be broken for you as these days pass by,please let me know if there is anything I can do. Much love to you all. To all who have signed in: I spoke to David EveryNight and EveryDay for the past six weeks since our dad died. This time has been full of deep pain and laughter at the same time. The last time I spoke to him this much was when we lived together on Dellrose. David has left nothing behind on this earth and this guest book has become sacred in what he stood for and his best years in my heart, since the only thing I have of david's is his winning 'game ball' at state championships--and now, all of your words. Everyone here knows when david walked into a room, it lit up and we all wanted to have a piece of his energy and fun. It was, no question, all about fun and more fun to be had around him. We have many stories to tell and classic memories of the greatest parties and those good old days were so filled with hope and confidence. This guestbook is the most clear about what david's strengths and heart stood for. I will cherish this silly generic guestbook, since everything else I have of him is in truly in my heart alone.... and the game ball. David left this earth but his spirit is in the sky and stars, just look. Please, keep signing in, tell the stories and read on. May David's Child Spirit Soar Forever.
LOVE and PEACE, Kathy

It breaks my heart to hear of the passing of David Curless. It’s been 30 years since we graduated High School and at least 26 years since I’ve seen Dave. He was the kind of friend that we could have picked up right where we left off. My memories of Dave are of the hard work we grinded through on the football field during two-a-days, the celebration of the games we won and the heart break of the ones that we lost. I’ll always remember you my friend with that smile on your face. God Bless you and your family, you are in my prayers.

David Curless,
So many of us from highschool feel so close to your kind soul, even though we haven't seen you in such a long time. You were a jock, a flirt (I think you even flirted with Miss Benedict), and the life of the party. Memories of you make my heart smile. Keep them laughing in heaven, I know that you are in a better place.
God Bless you and may your loved ones find peace and healing.

It's hard for us not to think of Dave without remembering the laughter he brought into our home when either laughing with us (or at us)-- always so funny and warm. Just one of many examples: For those of you who were not there, Dave showed up to our wedding shower with a can opener and a poem to go with it!!! Nearly two decades later, we still use it and think of that funny night. "Can opener, can opener opens the can; corn, peas, spinach, or spam... this can opener proves I'm no poet, don't you know it?" Dave, your laughter, humour, and spirit will be missed, our dear friend. Joe, the kids, and I will never forget your friendship. You were always such a loyal friend to Joe. Chris, Kathy, and Mark: You are in our thoughts. Joe said it so well. We hope Dave has found the peace he so deserves. He was such a good man with enormous heart.

Curl,I'll always remember the way you walked up and said "Hey sister what's uuup!!" and your huge boisterous laugh, huge smile, bear hug & a peck on the cheek. that was your signature greeting. I'll carry it with me all my life!! We had great times at super bowl parties & boxing matches. I think you might have won a few pots. You would always play air guitar & sing rock-n-roll & jam down, then laugh! You always knew every singing artist. It was your passion & speciality. especially if we were wrong. " I love you man." "Peace out peeps"!I'll see you on the other side.

My Deepest Symathy to The Curless Family. Dave was a friend of my son Jim during his high school/college/baseball years. He was in our home a lot, he loved French fries and would come in and ask if he could use the Fry Daddy to make fries, naturally Jim ate his share. Our family room had a large couch with a huge foot stool. He would flop down on the couch stretch out his arms and legs and declare “I love this couch”. On 2 different occasions we had tragic family situations and Dave was right there to help and support. He was a tender and caring person and I appreciated his friendship with our family.

Mark and all,

I was very sad to hear of David's passing.

I have a lot of great memories of David who was the consummate jokester and funny man.

Boy he could throw that ball, what a tremendous arm he had.

One of the things that sticks in my mind the most is that David was the best "wrist rocket" shot I have ever seen. He could nail a squirrel at fifty yards.

Mark our thoughts are with you and the rest of the family.

And David you had to just made the other side a happier and funnier place.

Fare well.

My memories of growing up in College Hill always include my best friend's brother, David. From snowball fights and stolen bicycles to driving his little sister and her friends around the Park to see "what's goin' on!" (We looked so cool hangin' with David, too!) I can't hear a Boston song without thinking of David (and I'll whip out the air guitar, too, just like him). I can't drive by El Dorado Lake without thinking of David (abandon ship!) His laugh is permanently etched in my mind - whenever I hear something close to it, I turn expecting to see him - even after all these years. David - I will miss you forever. I know you're at peace now.
