Wichita, Kansas - David J. Smith, 74, passed away in the presence of his children and his priest, Fr. Doug Campbell. A Vietnam-era U.S. Marine Corps veteran, David was an Avionics Technician by trade and later worked as a computer programmer. He was known for his intellect, curiosity, and love of learning, with passions for music, computers, cooking, science, and science fiction. He is survived by his son, Zechariah Smith; daughter, Sarah Carpenter; grandchildren, Makayla, Declan, Alison, and Damien. Rosary will be at 9:30 am, Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He died as he lived-an honorable man.
