Grant, Jill, and Gretchen

Don was my first boss at Cities Service here in Wichita. Don and Norma were so kind to Karen and I and made us feel at home here in Kansas. Don kept me grounded like the day I came to work complaining about the Arkansas-Texas game being preempted for K-State -Colorado State. He laughed and said you're not in the Southwest Conference, Reed, welcome to the Big Eight. While it might be years between our seeing each other, I will never forget the smile that spread across his face when I would walk into the store. He obviously influenced my career, and I will be forever grateful to him for that. Sorry Karen and I did not learn of Don's passing until Saturday night. God bless you all.

The years living next door to the Hewitts will forever be cherished. We watched the kids grow up and move away. Norma and Don complimented each other so well. It was always enlightening to visit with Norma, if you could just get her to tell you what she really thought. I learned a lot of things about restoring and refinishing from Don and he was quite willing to share what he knew. Sometimes I would peek thru the hedge to see what treasure he was working on, and he was working on something every day. Rain, shine, heat and in the cold, Don was always working, that's the way he way. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
I am sorry for your loss and relieved he got to go his way. God bless all of you.

What a gentleman. Both Norma & Don were one of the few people who knew real antiques in Wichita. You'll be missed.

What an outstandingly beautiful tribute to a wonderful life well-lived. Lots of accomplishments, smiles and laughter to remember. Let your over-flowing treasure chest of memories comfort you through the passage of time. Sending prayers for all of your family.

Here he is a young man, before children.

Grant, Spencer and Family,

Thinking of you all. Hewitt's Antiques just isn't the same without Don in his ball cap sitting in that old squeaky wooden chair at the front desk. He will be missed. You and your family have true compassion and are admired by all for honoring your father by letting him continue to be a part of his love of antiques.

May God bless.

We will all miss seeing "Daddy Hewitt" as we enter Hewitt's Antiques. He has been the first face we have seen as we step inside and adjust our eyes to the change in lighting. He was always welcoming and was eager to tell you about something he had learned or had recently purchased. The stories about these things that we collect gives them new life. He and his wife Norma Hewitt not only have a wonderful and remarkable family, but the finest gathering point for collectors too in Wichita. We are all the lucky ones to know the Hewitts and to see the traditions continue with Grant and Spencer. Love and sympathy to family and friends.
