Im writing to ask for all your prayers. My mom (Donna) fell on the first day of Sept. She lost her balance and fell really hard. Those of you that dont know mom has had four hip surgeries on this hip. She has been in the Hospital and now in rehab in Winter Garden Fl. She isnt makeing very good progress, now they are taking more x rays of her hip and say there is a possibility her hip is falling apart. Im just asking that everyone say a little prayer for her and maybe call her if you can. She is having a ruff time without Dad and now we are praying she will be able to walk again. Thank you.

My grandfather was a great man and cared for his family very much. Starting at an early age, I can remember him teaching us how to do many things; especially playing instruments and singing. As many of you know, grandpa was a quadriplegic for many many years and was in a wheelchair for all of my life time. His condition tuaght all of his grandchildren to respect those who are in handicapped and other restrictive health situations. He lived much longer than the doctors ever thought he would. He had an exceptional will to live even though he was constantly hurting from some physical ailment. I have a lot of respect for him and especially my grandmother for all that they have endured over the years. I always enjoyed my visits with them while living in Florida. I got to see him just before my family and I moved to PA and he was doing well. I will always remember the good times in my youth on the farm with grandpa, my brother and my cousins. I hope that one day soon I will be able to give my own boys some of the same experiences of farm life. I only wish that my 3 sons would have had the chance to spend more time with him and hear his stories. Some of my favorite times in my childhood were going to town with grandpa and going shopping. He would always have a "stash" of money that he had saved so that he could spend it on us grandkids. We will all miss him. I hope that one day, one of the family members can find a way to get his story (he did write a book many years ago about his life) published again on a bigger scale so that more people can benefit from it. I do hope to see him again one day and see him walk.
I have always been amazed with my grandma wise. She stayed with him from the beginning and always cared for him no matter what. She has always been a great example and I love her for that.
I spoke with Grandma yesterday and she seemd to be in good spirits. She said that she needed something to do though. So, I am asking all of you, as often as you can, to remember her and give her a call or go by and visit. I know that she would appreciate it very much.
Thanks to all of you for your kind words about the family and grandma and grandpa. I thank them for staying together and loving each other no matter what. They were an example to their children, grand children and all others around them. We all Love you grandma and grandpa.

Just heard from Virginia Benson about Don's death and want to extend our sympathy to you all. We did love you all and hope you are well, Donna. Enjoyed our visit with you in Florida a few years back and still have the plant Don gave me and had hoped to visit you again. Think of you often and have such good memories at all the Bluegrass festivals. Would love to hear from you sometime.

To Donna and the Kids...You dont remember me but I was one of Donnies biggest fans. I started going to the clubs when I was 17 and loved the Rock N tones..What a great time at the Stardust Club. I was devistated when Donnie had the accident. I was at the club that night but went home instead of going to the beach..I spent many nights at the hospital after the accident. Donna, you are the best. I could only hope that I could ever have the strength that you showed after the accident. I came by to see Donnie when he was home. I was on the police dept until 1969. I would stop by to check on him when I was patrolling near south Osage. I was always inspired by his optimisim. I moved to Georgia in 1970 and often thought of both of you. I heard that you had moved to Florida and now regret that I never came to see you. I loved seeing the pictures on the photo album...Donnie looked as happy as ever. What an inspiration. Both of you give meanilng to the saying "if life gives you lemons, make lemonade....Donna, you are the best...I only could hope that my next wife would be as loving and as good as you. You are truly a saint. I wish you would add a picture of your beautiful kids and grandkids. I have thought of you and Donnie and the kids often in the years since I have last seen you...Long live the Rock N Tones....The best band Wichita has ever seen...Hope Bobby and JR are behaving. I called Jerry Martin and Barbara Driscoll and they would like to call you...I will try to find a phone number...Love, Barry Costello

Words cannot express my sympathy. His optimism and positive outlook on life was inspiring - I never saw him upset. I looked forward to seeing him every family reunion and talking sports. He brought a smile to my face and every time I think of him I will smile! Aunt Donna: He was an extraordinary man, and you are an extraordinary woman. You both are in our thoughts and prayers.
love you.

Dear Donna, et al,
The Fountain of My Youth fills with the names and faces of those I knew and played with in my youth; and I can do nothing to stop the fill. I see their faces over and over, as I silently read their names again and again, and remember all they've meant to me back then and now. And I give thanks to G*d for each. For it is they who've made my life what it is, was, and ever shall be. And it is to each, I'm forever grateful. G*d blessed me when He introduced me to each, as He did in the fall of 1942, with Don Wise. G*d bless him.
Our love and prayers to you and yours, Donna,

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious. mom you are in my prayers,God be with you as dad is. love you.

My memories of being with Donnie and Donna are great!! We had such good times together before and after his accident. I have always said that Donna was a SAINT and I truly believe that. All these years took excellent care of Donnie and showed us all what "unconditional" love really was. I don't personally know another woman who could hold a candle to her in that respect.
I am sorry for your loss but know one of these days we'll have a great reunion with Donnie and all of the other family members that have gone before us.
Love you All,
Helen Wise

I neither no where to start. I can tell you that for 46 years, my dad as a quad, never felt sorry for himself nor did he want you to feel sorry for him..He was the best father anyone could have ever had. He taught me everything, from how to be a handyman to making your yard look the best on the block and never even touch it. I could always go to dad with any problem and he had just the right words for me. Now i look back im sorry mom, for always going to dad instead of you, but i think the reason was because i was always right beside him while you provided for our family, what an incredible woman you have always been and will be forever. I have to tell you that moms love for dad was and is never ending. I could only wish to have the love that she gave my dad. Growing up with him and the life that mom and dad gave me was the best anyone could ever ask for. I have many great memories of dad, and one thing that sticks in my head was him and i walking over to Seneca Square once a week to eat lunch. As i would sit there and feed him i would worry about people staring at us, and dad would always say its ok babe let them stare, they dont bother me so dont let them bother you. He never complained about anything. I miss him so much already. I know he is now with Jesus and he walked right thru them Pearly Gates with his head held high and a big smile on his face. I know this cause the last i seen him he was smileing. I have to say that my mother has a very special place in Heaven waiting for her. What a woman. I am also proud to say I have the best parents in the world. Dad your deep in my heart, and i too look forward to seeing you again one day. I love you mom. God Bless you, and all of us. I also want to thank everyone for shareing such wonderful words with us and mom has really been touched by all the love everyone has expressed.

Wow! I don't even know how to express how much I loved this man I had the privelage of calling my Uncle. Even though I haven't seen him for years he has always been in my thoughts and heart. Some of my fondest memories are walking to his house everyday after kindergarden and riding on his lap in his wheelchair. I loved riding with him and spending time with him. Another memory is every birthday ( I can tell my wish now because it finally came true) when I would blow out my candles I would wish for him to walk again. Now he is walking hand in hand with Jesus, grandma, grandpa and running and playing with Jason. He truly was an insperation to me. Everytime in school when I needed to write about my hero he was it!! As I grew older and became a wife and mom myself I realized what an incrediable woman Aunt Donna was and what great kids they both raised. You are an example to every husband and wife what better or worse really means. Your love for him and your family has been an incrediable example and I hope I can be half the wife/mom you have been. I am greatly sorry for all of your loss and so happy to know that Uncle Donnie, after all these years is appreciating walking and feeling like many of us take for granted. I am sure when he entered those gates Jesus said "Well done my good and faithful servant". Uncle Donnie you will be truly missed!! My kids will know you and Aunt Donna for the incrediable people you are. Love always! Jamie

What an awesome privililege it was to grow up near my Uncle Donnie and Aunt Donna, Covey, Cindy, Callie, and Cammie. He taught me even through his accident that you can turn any lemon into lemonaide. I loved that he would joke about getting out of his chair and dancing or playing with us. He no longer has to joke about dancing he is dancing with a new body with Jesus. How awesome!!!! I am deeply sorry for your loss and you are all in my prayers. Love Deidre
