Doris Richards Obituary
February 17, 1937 - February 11, 2022
Wichita, Kansas - Doris Ann (Lafferty) Richards, 84, passed away in Wichita, KS.
She was born February 17th, 1937 in Hutchinson, KS at Grace hospital to Opal and Harold Lafferty.
Doris was raised near Inman, and graduated from Inman High School. Doris moved to Hutchinson and began to work in insurance, and continued to work at insurance firms when she and Ray moved to Wichita.
After being a stay at home mother to Holly and Mark for a time, she found her true passion working as a para-educator at Levy Special Education Center for 25 years, and loved every day of it. Not to be idle, she was also a very social Avon lady for 44 years.
Doris met Ray Richards on a blind date at a basketball game, February 1st 1960. They then married April 14th, 1962. Ray and Doris attended Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Wichita KS.
Doris is survived by her children Holly (Tom) Jones, Mark (Debra) Richards and grandson Kyle Jones.
Services will be Fri. 18th, 1 P.M. at Resthaven Mortuary in Wichita, KS.

I was so sad to hear of Doris' passing. I worked with Doris at Levy for many years. She was the sweetest person you would ever want to meet. She had a heart of gold and was so proud of her family. My condolences to all of you.

I worked with Doris for many years at Levy. She was a delightful person, always with a smile on her face and never complaining. She loved our students dearly with her kind heart. Prayers for your family! I know she will be missed.
