Mulvane, Kansas - Doyle "Poppy" Dale Seaman, age 85 of Mulvane, died unexpectedly at his home January 8, 2021. Born in Cedar Vale, KS on October 9, 1935 to Dale Franklin and Cora Fern Metheny Seaman, Doyle was the oldest of two kids. In 1956, Doyle married Frances and later moved to Wichita where they raised their two kids, Cynthia and Darin.
In Wichita, Doyle began his long career in the aircraft industry. For over 30 years, he worked as a Parts Manager for both Cessna and Boeing, only taking a "hiatus" from 1961 to 1964 to serve in the United States Army.
Doyle was a knowledgeable mechanic and spent years restoring cars before moving to his favorite: red tractors—Farmall International Harvester, to be exact. Over the years, he had built quite the collection.
Doyle loved his family and enjoyed socializing with his friends. He particularly enjoyed time with his grandkids and great-grandson, who knew him as "Poppy."
Doyle is survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Lynn) Houser; granddaughter, Laura (Tyler) Oblinger; grandsons, Greg and Jeff Houser; great-grandson, Owen Oblinger; sister-in-law, Jessie (David) Latta; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Doyle was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; son, Darin; parents, Dale and Cora; and sister, Nadine (Jack) Wall.
A visitation with family will be held Thursday, January 14 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at Smith Mortuary in Mulvane, KS. Graveside services will follow on Friday, January 15 at 1:00pm at Cedar Vale Cemetery in Cedar Vale, KS.
