Ellen Ferguson Obituary

FERGUSON-Ellen Margaret Ferguson, Born to Albert and Mary Rothaermel in Fullerton, CA. on May 5th 1917. Passed away on July 10th, 2005 at the St. Agnes Home in La Habra, CA at the age of 88. Moved to Whittier in 1933 with her parents and graduated from Whittier High School in 1934. She attended University of California Berkeley. In 1939 she married her high school sweetheart W. Gordon Ferguson a long time Whittier Banker. They were married for 57 years until his death in 1996. As lifelong volunteer she was a member of the East Whittier Women's Improvement Club, the Assistance League of Whittier and PEO Chapter CU. As a full time housekeeper she enjoyed taking care of her 4 wonderful daughters and husband. Ellen was a devoted wife, beloved mother and grandmother. Ellen will be sorely missed. She is survived by her daughters Mary Pat Killian (Hank) of Whittier, Jan (Buck) Shirley of Tupelo, MS., Margaret (Richard) Chaffee of Walnut Creek, CA , grandchildren Carol Chaffee, Tom (Liz) Chaffee, Kathleen Chaffee, Todd Shirley, Andy Shirley, Ellen Wege, and Gordon Wege and one great-granddaughter, Meg Chaffee. Her daughter, Kathleen Wege, preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for contributions to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America or your favorite charity. Visitation Services held at Rose Hills Mortuary Stateroom, Gate#1. on Friday, July 15, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:30 P.M. Services directed by Rose Hills Mortuary on Saturday, Ju ly 16, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Brunos Church 15740 Citrustree Road. Whittier, CA 90603. Interment at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
