Felia Drake Obituary

Felia Mae Drake (McCoy), 83, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, at her home in Wichita, Kansas, with her husband and family by her side.

Born on August 14, 1942, Felia-affectionately known as Faye-was a devoted mother, devoted wife, and grandmother whose life was defined by quiet strength, humility, and unwavering love for her family. She retired from Copeland after years of dedicated service, but her true calling was in nurturing others, especially her grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life. She never missed a chance to brag about them, celebrate their accomplishments, or simply enjoy their company. To them, she was not only Grandma Faye, but also a safe place, a source of wisdom, and a steady example of unconditional love. She was the babysitting GOAT, always ready with patience, laughter, and guidance, embodying the spirit of service before self.

Grandma Faye's gentle nature and forgiving heart left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her Arkansas twang was as distinct as her warmth, and she had a special way of making everyone feel at home. Whether she was fishing, crafting, solving puzzles, coloring, or watching classic sitcoms from the '60s through the '80s or the Game Show Network, Faye found joy in life's simple pleasures. But nothing compared to the joy of being surrounded by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who brought light and meaning to her later years.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband Walter Drake; children: Tina New (Tim), Connie Lovitt (Jason), Richard Hurley, Cheryl Annen (Tom), Lisa Drake, and Corey Drake (Amanda); along with 16 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents Otto and Wilma McCoy (McCarver); siblings Orin McCoy, Linda Steerman (McCoy), and Roy McCoy; her son Jerry Garrison; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service for Grandma Faye will be held on October 10, 2025, at the Sedgwick County Park – Sunflower Building at 1:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at Resthaven Gardens of Memory at 2:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited to return to Sedgwick County Park at 4:00 p.m. for a fish fry and continued celebration of her life.

May her memory live on in the laughter of her grandchildren and the love she poured so generously into her family.
