Gary Griffith Obituary
March 31, 1954 - July 18, 2024
Tyler, Texas - Graveside services for Gary Lee Griffith, 70, of Tyler, Texas, will be held on Wednesday, July 24th, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler, Texas with Mr. Brandon Davidson officiating under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home, Tyler, Texas. The family welcomes you to visitation at Stewart Family Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, followed by a light lunch in the hospitality room.
Mr. Gary Lee Griffith passed away Thursday, July 18th, 2024, in Tyler. He was born March 31st, 1954, in Wichita, Kansas to Leland and Adeline Griffith.
Gary graduated from Wichita State University and had a lifelong career as a Geologist, retiring in 2021. He was a member of the East Texas Geological Society and as an avid lover of Camaros, he was involved in a variety of car clubs over the years. Gary also participated in 3 generations of Scouting, being heavily involved in Troop 456 in Lafayette, Louisiana when his 2 sons were in scouts and was a member of the Order of the Arrow.
Gary Griffith was preceded in death by his parents, Leland Griffith and Adeline Griffith; and his wife, Janet Griffith. He is survived by his loving family including his sons Dallas Griffith and Daniel Griffith; his daughters-in-law Amanda Kasson and Rachael Griffith; and his grandsons Dylan Griffith and Logan Griffith.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tyler Type 1 Diabetes Foundation 2702 E. 5th Street, #420 Tyler, TX 75701 or Welsh Cemetery 8022 Highway C, Dawn, MO 64638.

TO - the sons of Gary L. Griffith - - From George and Jann Puckett, Ridgeland, MS WE were friends of your dad and your mom and I know you miss them dearly. George worked with your dad in Houston for a few years in the oil business and we tried to visit with Gary and your Mom each time I was in Houston to visit George. WE enjoyed their friendship and had hopes of visiting your dad one day in Tyler. I was always in touch with him when my former company (EastGroup Properties, a Jackson based company) reported their quarterly earnings. WE are so sorry for your loss and will make a contribution to the requested memorial. JANN & GEORGE PUCKETT

I am deeply sadden by the passing of my good friend Gary Griffith. Although many years have passed since our time at West High School, I am comforted with the great memories I have of him. Anytime I see a blue 1967 - 69 Camaro I flashback to a younger Gary wearing a jean jacket.
To the Griffith and Boyd families, I hope you will also find comfort in your fond memories of Gary.
