George Allen Obituary

Allen, George Dale "Dale," was 91, when he passed peacefully on Dec. 22, 2014. Dale was born Dec. 13, 1923, to Burr and Louise (Reilly) Allen, who preceded him in death. Dale served in the US Army Air Force in WWII. After returning from the war, Dale graduated from Oklahoma University with a master in Architecture. He joined an architecture firm in Wichita, Kan., and went on to design several buildings with his partners in the firm of Schmidt, Allen, and Pot. Their designs in Wichita include the Wichita City Building, Coleman Middle School, and Temple Emanuel among many others throughout Kansas. Dale also designed many private residences in Wichita, including two of his own homes. Dale is survived by his wife, Glenna Margaret Allen; ex-wife, Norma (Fettke) Wittmer, and their children: son, Michael Dale Allen and his wife, Patricia (Maupin) Allen; daughter, Dana (Allen) McLaren and her husband, Richard McLaren; sister, Kathryn (Allen) Vetter; brother, Leroy Allen. Dale had 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Dale had many interests and talents, among them were flying, painting, model railroading and motorcycling. A celebration of life for family will be in Colorado Springs, Colo. Please donate to Alzheimer's Association at alz.org in Dale Allen's name, in lieu of flowers.
