I was thinking about McCaslins store and Jacks obit came up. When he was still at home I helped take care of him for Right at Home. He was great to talk with. I remember we watched WSU play Louisville in the NCAA tournament. When I was young my mother and shopped at McCaslins on
31st and Seneca.

My heart goes out to the entire McCaslin family, and will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. I had the privilege of being Jack's caregiver for a short time, although seemed like I knew him my whole life. Hearing about all the things he accomplished throughout his life and all the things he loved to do never got old. Out of all the clients I had the pleasure of caring for, Jack truly was my favorite. I am comforted in knowing that he was loved by so many and that he is now reunited with his wife, the love of his life who I heard so many great things about. RIP Jack.

What a Wichita icon.
I remember Jack taking Hank and I to McCaslins five and dime and seeing all the wonderful toys and fun things piled in the storage areas. Jack was always sure to see that we went home with something. I always thought he might be Santa in disguise.
Shelley and I would try to get invited over to swim occasionally by peeking over the fence to get Irene or Jacks attention. Of course all the neighborhood kids did the same. I don't know how they dealt with the mobs, but they did.
Hank and I would play in the huge sand box they had at the side of their home. We always had a natural disaster after setting up our army men and vehicles. The natural disaster was always a water hose that flooded the sand box. Jack would walk by and smile and say Hope you're having fun. I never knew if he actually hoped we were having fun or whether he was being snide about the mess we were making. But he always allowed us to continue.
Jack and Irene McCaslin helped make growing up in our neighborhood a wonderful experience. I will never forget them. Your loss is shared by so many. Bless you all.

As so many of us that grew up on Perry, Coolidge and Riverlawn, the McCaslin family holds such a dear place in our hearts. Holly, Mindy, Hank and families, we treasure your family and our fond memories. As others have stated, we now rejoice in the fact that Jack is with April and Irene again, but we also grieve with you at your loss. And, we know that they will always be with you. Much love, Martha Albright

Please accept my condolences at the death of your loved one. Know that the God of comfort feel your pain and suffering. Isaiah 61:1,2 reads: " He sent me (Jesus Christ) to bind up the brokenhearted, ... To comfort all who mourn, . . ."

Great memories of the McCaslin family. The Cotters (my grand
parents) lived next door and I have many memories of all the
family during my visits on Park Place. May the Peace of the Lord comfort you at this time.

I worked at the store on Harry back in the early 60s, stock boy. My boss was Mr. Parr, had a great time there.

My Dad, W.W. "Pick" Pickard managed McCaslins at 21st and Waco (I think) in the late 50's. Can't recall him ever saying anything against Mr. McCaslin.

Rest in peace Jack. You took me in as one of yours and I love you and the whole family as if they were my own. I know you are smiling and so happy to be with mom Irene and our April. Thanks for so many wonderful memories.

How welcomed we felt at the McCaslin home and pool over the years. Jack and Irene opened their home and their lives to so many neighborhood families and kids - the 4 Martz kids were frequent guest to this oasis for those on Riverlawn, Perry and Coolidge. Thank you McCaslin family! Jack was always cheerful and upbeat, greeting me with a smile when I visited Oxford Grand. Thinking of the McCaslin and Gardener families at this time of loss. May the God of peace bring you comfort. Love to all of you!
