John Wallace Wood

John Wood Obituary

Wood, John Wallace, passed away peacfully on April 21, 2007 at the age of 57. He was born September 14, 1949 in Concordia, Kansas to John S. III and Betty Wood. John retired as a machinist after 27 years from Boeing. He married his sweetheart Louise Gaulding on November 19, 1971 in Wichita, Kansas. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Wood in August 1954. John in survived by his wife, Louise of 35 years; a son, John S. Wood IV and wife Christianne of Perry, OK; a daughter, Lindsay D. Howard and husband Cory of Wichita, Ks; parents, John III and Betty Wood of Wichita, Kansas; 3 grandchildren, Aubrey and Baby boy Howard and Serenity K. Wood; two sisters, Sharon (Lester) Miller of Ancona, Illinois and Linda (Bob) Cain of Painesville, Ohio. At John's request, "A very casual memorial service" will be held Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at Old Mission Mortuary Chapel with a reception to follow, serving John's sugar cookies. Memorials have been established with St. Jude's Childrens Hospital in lieu of flowers. The family would like to thank Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Staff for the caring and support during John's time of illness.
