Kathleen Deppner Brown Obituary

Deppner Brown, Kathleen J. artist, newspaper journalist passed away November 30, 2017 in Wichita, KS. Born in Redwood City, Ca. on May 8, 1943 to Fred & Teresa Deppner II. Kathy was a 1961 graduate of Hutchinson High School and a 1976 graduate of Wichita State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. She began her journalistic career at the Hutchinson News. Her journalism career then took her to Omaha, NB where she worked for the Omaha World Herald as the fashion page editor. She made numerous trips to New York City covering the latest in fashion. After returning to Hutchinson in 1997, she worked as the Assistant Director of Public Information at the Hutchinson Hospital. Kathy had a passion for art and for her beloved dogs; Max, Maxwell, Moosie and Harvey (Harvey survives). Preceded in death by her parents and husband; Porter Brown. Survived by her life partner; Ken Steffens, Brother; Fred (Kathleen) Deppner III and niece Angie (Andy) Saville and Megan Deppner. Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, December 7, 2017, 2;00 p.m. at Risen Savior Lutheran Church 6670 E. 34th St. No. Wichita, KS. 67226

So sorry to lean this news. Kathy was a very nice lady with a good sense of humor, very creative and of course, great style. I will miss her at the next HHS reunion.
