Kathleen Rankin Obituary

Rankin, Kathleen "Kay," 82, of Wichita, formerly of Salt Lake City, UT, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005 at Wheat State Manor, Whitewater, KS. She was born the daughter of Jesse and Lois (Robison) Kelley on Aug. 11, 1923 in Houston, TX. On Dec. 22, 1957, she and James Robert Rankin were united in marriage. Kay was an active and educated women throughout her life. She graduated from high school at the age of 15 and from Rice University at the age of 19. Kay was employed by and retired from the Wichita Eagle-Beacon as an advertising copywriter. She enjoyed oil paintings and following retirement enjoyed ballroom dancing so much that she taught it in her local senior center, where she was always active. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and brother, Arthur Kelley. Survivors: fiance, Gus Harder of Whitewater; daughters, Kim (Rankin) Cash of Salt Lake City, UT, Kellee Cranston and husband, Jesse of El Dorado; son, Jon Rankin and wife, Kathy of Murfreesboro, TN; son-in-law, John Cash of Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren, Bobbi Blackburn, William Blackburn III and wife, Kristen, Christian Cranston, Samantha Cranston, Blayne Rankin and Collyn Rankin; great-grandchildren, Berona and Abigail Blackburn; brothers, Clay and Eugene Kelley. Services 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2005 at Fairview Baptist Church, 7982 NW 20th, Towanda, KS. Arrangements by Cornerstone Cremation Society, Wichita.
