Leo Hoadley Obituary

Leo Burton Hoadley

November 10, 1956 - July 7, 2025

Belle Plaine, Kansas - Leo lived life with a "do-it-yourself" approach and sarcastic form of humor. He grew up and lived in Belle Plaine, KS, for the majority of his life, being one of the town's first kindergarten class students! Later he graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1974. He earned an associate's degree in Machine Tool Technologies from Cowley County Community College which led to a successful career as an aerospace tooling machinist. On April 23, 1977 he married the love of his life Cindy Chmidling in St Michael's Church, Mulvane, KS.

Selflessly, he provided for his family working for industry leaders such as Cessna, Boeing, and Spirit, where he retired at the age of 62. He continued to enjoy passions such as woodworking, gardening, and fishing; never ceasing to smile when he reeled in whatever was on the end of his baited line.

A proud husband, father, and grandfather, Leo is survived by his wife Cindy; children Evan (Laura), Joel (Jill), and Miranda Hickey (Adam); grandchildren Paeton, Ryleigh, and Aria Hickey; siblings Pamla Hoadley-Deeds (Bill), Neal Hoadley, and Nels Hoadley (Ruthi), and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death: father Donald F. Hoadley, mother Mary Hoadley-Frus, (SIL) Brenda Lake, and (SIL) Dee Hoadley.
