Leo Hodgson Obituary

Hodgson, Leo R., 88, retired civil service Chief of Quality Control for the Air Force at Boeing Wichita, died Tuesday, March 3, 2003. Service 1 p.m. Saturday, Resthaven Mortuary. Mr. Hodgson has been part of the AFPRO since Feb. 1951. He worked more than four years during the early 1940's at Oklahoma City and San Antonio air materials areas, most of the time at OCAMA. The B47 program was in the early stages when Mr. Hodgson arrived, and the B52 program was underway when he was named Chief of Electronics and Acceptance of the AFPRO in 1956. He retired in 1979. Over the years he received many awards for outstanding performance. Preceded in death by two brothers. Survivors: wife, Ida Mae of Wichita; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Dennis Thompson of Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Ila Summers of Wichita, Irene Van Dorsten of Lake Charles, La., Gladys Bahn of Tonkawa, Okla.; granddaughter, Ashley Richards and husband, Conrad, grandson, Blake Thompson and wife, Kippy, all of Charlotte, N.C.; two great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Maude Carpenter's Center, 1501 N. Meridian, Wichita, KS 67203, Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 833 W. Washington Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607 and Trinity Hospice LLC, 1938 N. Woodlawn, Wichita, KS 67208.
