GENTILE, LORRAINE E. GOVANG Lorraine E. Govang Gentile, 80, of West Haven passed away peacefully on May 2, 2015 in Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Vincent L. Gentile, Sr. Born in New Haven October 14, 1934 she was a daughter of the late Frank and Sarah Underwood Govang. She resided in West Haven for 59 years before living with her daughter in Cheshire. She was the loving mother of Michael (JoAnn) Gentile of Beacon Falls, Laura (Gerald) Mulligan, Jr. of Cheshire and Vincent L. (Donna) Gentile, Jr. of Bethany. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren Karla (Jason) Quigley, Kim Gentile, Colleen and Melissa Mulligan, Evan and Alex Gentile and her lifelong best friend Margaret “Dolly” Monahan. She was predeceased by her siblings, Vivian Paier, Marie Dombkowski, Madeline Acerra, Lillian Cerrone, Laverne Govang, Frank, Doss, James and Cardy Govang. Lorraine loved to entertain her family and friends and her later years were spent caring for her devoted husband of 59 years. She would often reminisce of her childhood days, which would bring a “special sparkle” to her eyes, then a smile and gentle laugh. She was the youngest of 10 siblings. She was a gentle soul who will be sadly missed. Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 830 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven Wednesday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Paul’s Church at 10:00. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call WEDNESDAY MORNING from 8:00-9:30.
