Margaret Bowman Obituary

MEDFORD, OR - Bowman, Margaret J., 87, formerly of Wichita, died March 11, 2010, at her home at Veranda Park Retirement Living, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday, March 18 at the Courtyard Hall at Veranda Park, with Chaplain April Tavares officiating. Margaret was born February 6, 1923 in Pratt, KS, to Martha Lee Fletcher and David Leeper. She grew up in Pratt and graduated from Pratt Liberty High School in 1941. She married Ralph L. Bowman in Lawrence, KS on August 10, 1946. After Ralph graduated college, Margaret and Ralph settled in Wichita, where they raised two daughters, Cheryl and Linda. Once her daughters finished elementary school, Margaret returned to work, becoming Assistant Director of the Mental Health Association of Wichita. After living in Wichita for 26 years, Margaret and Ralph moved to New Orleans, then to Houston, and finally, to Austin, where Margaret lived for 29 years before moving to Medford in 2007 to join her daughter, Linda. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph L. Bowman, who died in 2002; and her daughter, Cheryl Bowman Eakin, who died in 2007. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Linda Bowman and Jim McConnell of Medford, OR; grandson, Logan Bowman McConnell of Portland, OR; granddaughters, Emma and Annie Bowman McConnell of Medford, OR; son-in-law, Daryl Eakin of Abilene, TX; grandsons, Don, Brad and Jeff Eakin of Kyle, TX; grandson, Scott Eakin of Abilene, TX; brother-in-law, Charles E. Bowman, of Granbury, TX; brother-in-law, Lewis Bowman of Tehachapi, CA; sister-in-law and dear friend, Jo Ann Bowman of Round Rock, TX; niece and travel-buddy, Janice Parcells of Granbury, TX; nieces, Cathy Wright of Wichita, Rae Jean Hathaway of Winslow, AZ, Lisa Montano of Rocklin, CA, and Ellen Brown of Round Rock, TX. Linda,
I'm so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I can't imagine the void you are feeling in your heart and in your life. I know the void I felt when I lost my dad, as I'm sure you know as well. My heart goes out to you and I will keep you in my prayers. (This is really the part of life that sucks!)
