Mary Sperling Obituary
March 22, 1935 - May 21, 2021
Pittsburg, Kansas - Mary Arlene (Neises) Sperling, 86, passed away Friday, May 21 in Pittsburg, KS. The twelfth of 13 children, she was born March 22, 1935, to Mathilda (Lies) and Peter Neises of St. Mark, KS. Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and seven sisters, and husband, Wayne Sperling. Arlene served as a Papal Volunteer in Brazil 1963-66. After returning home, she helped operate the airplane delivery company she and Wayne owned. She later worked at Boeing. Arlene played a central and pivotal role in the large, extended Neises family. She helped to reconstruct, maintain and preserve family history while connecting far-flung relatives, introducing those who did not know each other, and rallying the family to attend reunions. She will be sorely missed. Recitation of the Rosary will be Tuesday, June 8 at 9:30 a.m., followed by mass at 10 a.m., both at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, St. Mark, KS.
