I want to send my condolences to the Assmann family. I was a member of Matt's squadron at McConnell AFB, KS. He was very easy to talk to and I remember our conversations we had about our love for college football and his love for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He was a great person and I was glad to have known him. RIP my friend...Rick

To the Assmann family, I am grateful for having Matt as a classmate and a neighbor. I remember his carefree demeanor growing up and his "can do" attitude on the football field. I imagine this is the way he was throughout life with friends and family. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you as you celebrate Matt's life, and the impact he made on you and the airmen he had the opportunity to lead.

I am so sorry for your loss, Matt was such a dear friend to me in High School and years beyond. My heart is broken but knowing the pain he was suffering is gone makes things a little easier. I want you all to know Matt is an Angel looking down on us telling us all he is ok and we will be too. Love you all your faith will get you through
