To the Baba Family: This is from Dr. Vernon Dicke, also from Wichita but now in a nursing home in Beaverton, OR....this is his daughter Mary Ann (Dicke) McNally RDH....I know that Dad would want me to send our sympathies to you. He is still able to converse, but is not able to do any correspondence. If he comes up with any interesting "stories" to tell about the "dentistry" years gone by, I will log on again and share them with you. My husband and I moved to OR 25 years ago....Dad has been here since '05, after the death of his second wife (in 2005, cancer).
Again, our condolences, Dr. Vernon H. Dicke and family

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of my uncle Mike Baba. After receiving the message I sat for a very long time sadly thinking of how was lost with his passing and how he will be missed. How do you measure a man? Well if you measure it in his capacity to loave and care for his immediate and extended family, he was a geant. If you measure it by his accomplishments and his ability to inspire, again a geant. If you measure ity by his accomplishments and his ability to inspire, again a giant. If you considered honesty, good sense, integrity and fairness, no one had better standing. It is with all my heart I send my sympathies to Aunt Mae and all the children and grandchildre and their families. I know we all will feel a great empty hole in a part of our lives with his passing. I am sure he will be there in heaven awaiting Aunt Mae and in time us all. May God bless you all in this time of sorrow. Ron and Ellen Baba and Family

My fondest memory of Mike happened not too long after Joe and I had graduated from dental school in 1982. Mike came up to me at a dental society meeting with a stern look and took me aside and said he wanted to ask me a question. He asked "Warren why doesn't Joe listen to me?" I just laughed and told him that was simple. " Because he is YOUR son! He wants to be as good or better than you and he wants to do it his way, just like you were with your father I suspect." He just looked at me because he knew I was right and then I said "But Uncle Mike, I will always listen to you" and we both laughed and hugged and from then on I've called him Uncle Mike. It was a majical moment for the both of us. Warren R. Rensner DDS Wichita Ks.

Some of my Foundness memories of Dr. Baba have been eating Brunch at Rolling Hills Country on Sunday Morning after Church. I would go with my Dad, Johnnie Bell, some of my family and we would always see Dr. Baba and his lovely wife or many times the whole family. Dr. Baba was such a Great Friend of my Father's. My Dad told me they played golf once a week. How much fun they had together. Our family will miss you Dr. Baba, but our Mom, Laurie Bell will take care of you in heaven.

Our Uncle Mike was a wonderful person. He and Aunt Mae felt that keeping in touch with family everywhere was so important. We will always remember his visits to us here in Calgary. Not only was he a talented dentist but also had the gift to make a person feel valued. We will never forget his love and kindness. He was the best!!

While almost most everyone knew him as Dr. Baba, I knew him only as Uncle Mike. Of course he was also our family dentist while I was growing up, and a truly great dentist he was. But he was also my father (John Baba's) brother. He and my father grew up together on the family farm in Saskatchewan Canada, and they remained close throughout all the years of their lives.
We spent a lot of time together when I was growing up. The two families were opposite matches with Uncle Mike & Aunt Mae having four children; three girls and one boy. There were also four children in my family with three boys, and one girl.
When my father passed away in 2007, my Uncle Mike stepped in and acted as a surrogate father for me. It was very comforting to go over and visit Uncle Mike and Aunt Mae, and to hear some of the stories that my father use to tell except with a slightly different slant. We also shared an interest in politics, and I always enjoyed his incredible insightfulness about the world and about politics. He really taught me a lot and was very sharp till the end.
I am deeply saddened at my Uncle Mike's passing, and my prayers go out to my Aunt Mae, my cousins and their families.

Dr. Baba was our family dentist and also a long time friend of my father's, from the Allis Hotel days where they worked together. He took good care of our teeth, and oh, do I remember those red tablets!! My thoughts are with Dr. Baba's wife and family at this time.

About 45 years ago I was playing at the Baba's....I was balancing on a wrought iron railing that surrounded the porch. I lost my balance and grabbed the yard light fixture on my way down and tore it clear off of the porch. THE DREAD...! I thought Dr. Baba might pull all of my teeth out he'd be so mad. Well...instead he came out and picked me up and dusted me off and told me it was okay and that he wasn't mad one little bit...he was just glad I didn't break my neck. Once we all grew up I would still run into Dr. and Mrs. from time to time and he would always laugh and remind me of this accident with the yard light. I will never forget his kindness to me then as a child and also his sense of humor about it once I became an adult. He will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to the entire family

Dr Baba taught me how to bat at softball. He reminded me of that but as well he should, I became a homerun hitter. The Baba's were wonderful neighbors and friends. I was best buddies with Cheryl growing up. Dr Mike was our family dentist and he demanded near perfection from his help (Peggy), as well as from himself. Lots and lots of great memories of the entire Baba family! Dr. Mike Baba was a pillar of dentistry! He will be missed.

Dr.Baba was a very accomplished dentist and a kind human being. He was my dentist for many years when I lived in Wichita. I have a gold bridge he fashioned that my dentist in Overland Park says is the best she has ever seen. The bridge is around 50 years old. I cherish his memory and am thankful for all of his good work and caring life.

I am so sad to hear this news. Dr. Baba was a great dentist to our entire family for over 30 years and such a wonderful man. I remember climbing those stairs up to his office by the Broadview Hotel when I was a very little girl. I am so happy I ran into him and his wife just a few weeks ago and was able to tell him how much I appreciated him. You will be missed Dr. Baba.
