The Ward family sadly announces the passing of their beloved husband, father, uncle, great-uncle and grand-paw, Mike Ward.
In the early morning hours of December 18th, 2020, Mike Ward passed away peacefully, leaving a huge void in the lives and hearts of his loved ones. He was born in Wichita, KS to Clyde Dewayne Ward and Martha Louise Clark on December 14th, 1959. Mike graduated from Valley Center High School class of 78' and lived in Valley Center his entire life; he loved and cared for the people in his hometown. He married Judy Elizabeth Vance on September 23rd, 1983 and was happily married for 37 years. Mike retired as a Business Agent for the Operating Engineers Local 101, he worked diligently for 10 years to keep the members of the Local 101 with steady work. Before he held the Business Agent role, he worked for 27 years as a Crane Operator. As a Crane Operator, Mike operated the tower crane for the tallest building in the state of Kansas the Epic Center and he worked many other interesting jobs. He was also an avid antique collector including gas and oil, an excellent fisherman and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by father Clyde Dewayne Ward, mother Martha Louise Ward, brother Steve Ward, brother Kenny Ward, brother-in-law Claude Vance and sister-in-law Kimmie Worthan. Mike is survived by his wife, Judy Ward; daughters April Borrego-Ward (Dennis), Amber Ward, and son David Michael Ward II., Sister-in law Janel Ward, Sister-in- law Trudy Chaput (Allan), Brother-in-law Tony Vance, Sister-in-law Anita Smith (Richard) and Jerrylyn (Larry), 18 nieces and nephews and 40 great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
